Which BB can be penetrated with a 203mm US guns ??? (far and point blank range)

Because every time I go close quarter with  BB, I keep on thinking should I switch to AP now or still stick with HE.

Like I know Amagi and NC can be penetrated with 203 AP, (RIP Iowa, because she is very dead)

But can it penetrate Bismark, because she has 320mm armor and WG said NO has 321mm pens at 5 km.

biggest question, can 203mm penetrate Montana citadel armor belt ??? And can it penetrate NM and Co armor belt ?(they have 343mm, so this give me questions)

That is a tricky question to answer since the ballistic characteristics of 203mm guns can be different.

 

Best bet is to look on http://www.navweaps.com/Weapons/WNUS_Main.php and compare the penetration table to the armor thickness.

Shoot just above the belt armour of bismarck with any cruiser AP

The SHS AP on the Baltimore and Des Moines can citadel any non-German BB at close range. And just about anything at long range through the deck.

 

It's worth switch AP when you have a flat broadside just about always. Even without a citadel you can get put up 10k volleys on an upperbelt/superstructure.
