Instead of doing the same old armor the ships better I decided to explain what armor is on a ship as a start it will go further into explain why the game misrepresents this armor and needs to be corrected and is one of the major issues as of why players are not coming back to the game and are either leaving or just quite. The Player retention problem has more than this to do with it but this just one reason.

Belt armor is a layer of heavy Metal Armor plated onto or within the outer hulls of warships, typically on battleships, battlecruisers and cruisers, and aircraft carriers.

The belt armor is designed to prevent projectiles from penetrating to the heart of a warship. When struck by an artillery shell or underwater torpedo, the belt armor either absorbs the impact and explosion with its sheer thickness and strength, or else uses sloping to redirect the projectile and its blast downwards.

Typically, the main armor belt covers the warship from its main deck down to some distance below the waterline. If, instead of forming the outer hull, the armor belt is built inside the hull, it is installed at a sloped angle for improved protection, as described above.

In a ship an armored citadel is an armored box enclosing the machinery and magazine spaces. It was formed by the armored deck, the waterline belt and the transverse bulkheads

Barbette-The heavily-armored vertical tube that supported the new gun mount was referred to as a barbette.

With the Citadel Armor it was changed once Armored Cruisers where done away with for Light and Heavy Cruisers was considered a separate armor. Generally around half as thick as the belt armor on the sides and generally as equaled thickness of the deck armor. Light and Heavy cruisers will be explained later in the post if posters and players are curious and why the Washington Naval Treaty did what it did to the Cruiser and Battlecruiser line. Picture attached shows where the armor locations where located on ships during before and after the war till missile ships started being used 1930 to around 1970.

Red Belt Armor

Orange Citadel Armor

Green Barbette Armor

Blue Deck Armor or Splinter armor depends on location.

the destination of heavy cruiser and light cruiser had nothing to do with it's armor it had to do with it's guns size. *in guns and bigger were considered heavy cruisers anything smaller is a light cruiser. As for the why armor works in game it works fine not historically accurate but this is a arcade game if you want to play something more realistic than play war thunder.

Washington Naval Treaty added ore to it than just Jun size by the way but gun size was an aspect of it but not the total picture and so was armor in the Clause of the washinton Naval treatyg

Yeah I'm not saying they don't but there are those in the game that don't that is all. Kinda sad when a developer doesn't now the difference.

Pardon me if I've misunderstood your intentions, but aren't some cruisers already modeled like that?

Take for example, my Graf Spee:

The layouts are there but there thickness is not correct Belt Armor is not Citadel armor for your ship the belt was 140mm thick alone 5.5 inches thick Citadel is suppose to sit under the belt armor around the engine rooms and ammo lockers not on the sides of the ship playing belt armor when it isn't.
