It might help to take a hiatus from the game.
You might just be burned out.

I myself did the same thing. I took about a four or five month break from the game. It helps.

One can only play a game for so long before they go crazy.

I have two or three other single person games I jump to when WOWS gets to be too much or my friends aren't online that helps.

Yeah but I don't get the game play right now. For the most part no one pushes. We just sail around our side of the map hoping for a few sniper kills. I think the reason other teams seem so powerful is that when they see no focused effort by the opponent they know that if they even get a few ships together to do the same thing they can win it. I'm just not the sniper.

I usually take four or five minutes break. Works fine.

The games keep getting worse and worse and I'm watching my own game play spiraling down at every one of them. There becomes a point where I have to ask myself why I continue.

Trying to prove to yourself that you are better than this, no matter how potato the games are?

I'm finding that in nearly all standard battles these days, the team that pushes seems to fair better in the end. And I don't mean a full on lemming train, but a gradual push on one or more flanks, enough to push through passive players anchored to their favorite sniping spot.

I thought so as well, but I have slowed down my play style and its never been more fun since.

The magic number seems to be around 8000.

If the population count is below this, expect a fair game with even odds, no blow-outs, and more rewards for skill.

Nice long bruisers of games with close scores.

..

The higher this population number is above 10K leads to unrealistic games.

Unbelievable (for me) accuracy, one-hit fires, and somehow, all my blind torpedoes hit home. .. Trophy games.

Next game..  few hits, 4 digit damage, and enemy cleans out my HP with 'too accurate' gunfire while I'm dodging like crazy.  Approaching torpedoes actually steer into me.

...

Steer away from the high tiers in those low population times, though.

Sailing into the windless doldrums and ending up becalmed with sails limp in an interminable losing streak is hard, offering up two versions of hell--one far worse than the other.

The first is a spate of lost battles where you played reasonably well--top half or top third on your team. Nothing to feel so bad about if you played well enough... sh*t happens. This will surely pass soon.

The second sets in when the losing streak is well on its way, and shows every indication of continuing. That's when you get the wretched feeling you aren't playing well at all. You don't even have the energy to shout at your team for not pushing, for chasing CVs, or the DDs once again just dorking around refusing to scout, or do their job, or noticing two other ships on your side afk 4 mins into the battle, or two other *friendly* CAs shooting each other, or... whatever.

You start to smoulder inside about all of this--after you've been sunk. Well along in your losing streak, a new battle starts up and hope springs eternal in reversing the trend, but the monkey is on your back and not letting go: in the first minute of battle you can see that it's another crop of potatoes. Like trying to play a serious game of volleyball with a passle of yahoos who are pounding the ball off court or spiking it into the net... and laughing. Thoughts like 'why am I here exactly?' come to mind. Your morale sinks. You play poorly out of aggravation and seething resentment at another loss and waste of time. The lyrics to that song by the Police goes through your head:

Daddy grips the wheel and stares alone into the distance
He knows that something somewhere has to break
He sees the family home now, looming in his headlights
The pain upstairs that makes his eyeballs ache
Many miles away there's a shadow on the door
Of a cottage on the shore
Of a dark Scottish lake

(from Synchronicity II)

And it's time to take a break. Seriously. Take it.

Stop worrying about your previous matches and just relax and look forward.

Getting Frustrated about how you have been doing makes future games worse.

That, and have you guys noticed that the games seem to be a landslide one way or the other? Very short games and unless your good at fast damage, which I'm not, win or lose you have very little damage to show for it.

Looking at your Warship today....

last 90 days.. You have made a solid improvement.

Last 30 days.. You have made a solid improvement

Last 7 days you dipped back down... but it was only a small sample of battles for that (44).

Overall.. you are improving and trending up as a player.   Don't let one bad week or a few days get you down..

Change up ships/tiers/Class that you are playing for a bit.   Try out some DD's for a change of pace/break.

Take a break, read the forums.  Switch up your tiers.  Heck sometimes I'll even go co-op.  Only place I'll play a carrier is co-op actually. Other times I'll push through a bad streak.  I throw on some music, have a few beers and just ignore "trying to do good"  I tune out the damage numbers and just focus on playing.  My best games have happened that way

Seems to be a mix, have not seen any trends - had multiple games to down to a couple boats left, had others where blow outs either way.

Thanks Spyde. I just got the Prinz, I may give that a try for a bit. All I've messed with at least seriously, has been BBs.

there does not seem to be a population effect for games I've played in the last month, they are all like stauffenburg describes (sans the lyrics). sitting at a 23% win rate lately.

Seems that explains to me why the number of real bad games I get into is so low. I play at GMT so besides weekends the count is usually 4k-8k. Number of campers gets only up at weekends and US holidays.

With the Fire/Water event, I started keeping track of all my battle numbers.

Important things Warships Today - or even in-game stats fail to make mention of that DRASTICALLY effect one's game.

What TIER is the battle vs. what tier ship you are in? -- for me, this is shown as the BIGGEST factor in doing well.  Strangely, nobody keeps these on record.

... I find that my tier 8 ships see 50% tier 10 battles.  My tier 5 ships see 55% tier 7 battles..  Of those double-uptiered battles, all are in the >10K user times.

..

Bad RNG:  Some have figured out the pattern that I haven't -- I see signs.  Some folks immediately duck behind islands and avoid long range battle.  When I engage, I am cut to pieces.  These folks aren't cowards, they've figured out some simple tests at the beginning of a battle to see how bad the RNG is.  Somehow, they get blamed for the bad battle when I can clearly see they would have been wiped out too.

These shots at spawn..  Are they seeing how bad their dispersion is against an island?  Are they hitting where they targeted?  I'll have to try that out to see if there is a pattern.

There's definitely a trend of lazy play right now. Not passive, lazy. No one wants to play their role, everyone wants to sit back and farm sniper damage. Invariably, one team or the other will finally realize that their opponent is sleeping, pounce on them, and get an easy, one sided victory. I'm actually going to take a day or two off from the game, just because I'm the idiot still trying to push in BBs or scout in CLs, and I keep getting my ship blown out from under me since everyone else on my team is at least 12km behind me.

I've had the same experience over the past month or so.  Figured it was just time for one of those dips but it's persisted.  I'm sort of glad because it pushed me into coop and coop is so damn fun.  You can really enjoy the beauty of the ships and there's certainly no passive play with the bots coming right at you.  No doubt it's easy mode but fun is fun.

Hang in there, OP.  This game is streaky, and the bad ones can be pretty painful.  The worst part about a bad streak is the downward-spiral: the game is bad, so you feel your play is bad (even when it may not start out to be), so you play worse, which makes the game worse, and it continues through a long series of battles.

I'll offer you this to help you keep your mental keel even:

Yeah, it's a different game, but the phenomena of tilt is exactly the same.

And...

Lol, i don't even drink but this past weekend made me seriously think about having a beer :)

Not knowing why you don't drink, if it's legal for you and not unreasonable, it might not be the worst idea ever.
