AA firepower makes CVs hard to play above 6...

 

And there's little reward for just spotting.. You have to get in close and do damage.

Because the use of a Louisville Slugger nerf bat on how carriers function in the game has made it pretty much made it pointless for anyone but unicums to use them in mid to high-tiers any more.

 

Therefore, people who still want to play carriers either go club ​(despite the recent, new restrictions,) with Langley, Hosho, Bogue, and Zuiho; or they go play carriers in Co-op.

Because the low tier ones are easier to access while the high tier ones require plenty of time and dedication to get to since CVs are generally hard to play.

 

Quoted for truth even if I slightly disagree "Hard to play" part, hard to play well absolutely though.

Only half the story.  Every ship takes awhile to get (tho the cumulative xp n credit cost of a t10 Cv is approx 1/3 greater than a t10 bb).

 

As was mentioned, at t6 n up the tools used to counter cvs, namely aa n df, get progressively stronger while the tools cvs have to deal damage remain relatively static.
