Besides who knows where Konig would have been had they not nerf'd it and why

She'd be exactly how she is now: above average among Tier V Battleships. Which is perfectly okay.

Konig was doing godd*mn fine before her nerf.

Konig *IS* doing fight ever since her nerf.

And the whine about the German Cruiser guns earlier in the thread is idiotic because of the improvements that entailed to the damage output of multiple ships.  I will beat this point home into the dirt again.

Ships like K-Berg, N-Berg, Roon, and most especially of all these, Hindenburg, have better damage capability than before.  In the past the HE shells were so bad that you were better off spamming AP all day, even though it meant you were getting tons of non-pens and bounces... German Cruisers never had, and still do not have, special penetrating power in their AP shells like RN CLs nor auto-bounce angles like USN Cruiser AP.  In the past you were better off relying on overpens or what not with AP than use HE which had so little damage capability and trouble penetrating.  The HE Pen Buff to the German Cruisers suddenly meant their HE could regularly pen.  They still had "normal" AP that have high Damage values.  They can now Spam HE all day, 'errday, while still having powerful AP shells to punish someone as they see fit.

This single change, for example catapulted Hindenburg from a very meh Tier X Cruiser to one of the most well loved, all-around Cruisers that has an answer for practically every scenario.  This single change, took Hindenburg from a barely played Tier X Cruiser to one of the most widely played Tier X ships.

I worked on the German Cruiser Line when these things were new.  I worked on them back when BFT+AFT buffed their CL guns and Konigsberg reached 19km.  The HE was bad, VERY BAD.  It's a completely different game today.  I worked on these suckers when Admiral Hipper was considered the highlight of the line.  With the state of these Cruisers now, and I see chatter like German Cruisers are being persecuted after the "Free IFHE" built into the ships with no penalties... I can only laugh!  You people have NO IDEA! :Smile_teethhappy:

Nurnburg and Konigsburg are about as far from balanced as tech tree ships get pre tier 7, especially considering KM's super AP they really didn't need super HE aswell.

Yep, same here.  How about at launch when in Konigsberg and Nurnberg it was absolutely mandatory for you to take last stand because you would lose your engine, rudder, or both LITERALLY every HE salvo you took, bow or stern, didn't matter.

Things engines and rudders broke more than DDs do now.  Running joke was WG gave them outboard motors.  The German bass boat with guns.

How many months did it take to fix that?

They were the laughing stock of the game and nearly unplayable.

People think the USN cruisers are a tough grind, got nothing on launch German cruiser line.
