So finally, after several weeks of grinding thru the Edi at Tier 8, I got the Neptune. Only played 1 game, but damn, them guns and torps.

I watched yesterday a youtube on Neptune stating that choosing the 2 Steering Gear Modules is much better than the Concealment Module+Steering Gear Module. Granted, you get spotted at 11.2km instead of 10km, the ability to turn faster is much more important. So I went with the 2 Steering Gear Modules, and forgo the Concealment. VERY good choice IMO (my cap has CE already).

Anyways, Neptune guns, hit like a freaking heavy truck. Ive never had 7-9k salvos on a BB before with a RN CL (and every 5s).

Torps, finally, lots of them. The Edi should have these torps IMO. Edi's 3 torps per side is a joke.

Steering, even thou my current steering is the same as my Edi (7s), for some reason it seems the Neptune turns faster and quicker. I'm not sure why it feels that way even thou the steering timing is the same (with B hull on Neptune goes down to 5s).

Turrets turn crazy fast IMO, not the same as the ATL, but fast fast fast. Forget EM Cap Skill on the Neptune, its not needed.

My Cap Skills are:

1:PT

2: SSE

3:SI

4: CE+RL

I'm finally at 17 points now, and I have 3 un-used points, so I have to see if I choose ER or SE. Neptune reload is fast 5s, so not sure just how ER would help much. SE I hear is very good, as we all know them 2-3k HP could mean stay alive or win the match. I'm still not decided.

I have to say, it was worth the grind on the Edi (which was very long and sometimes painful). For those grinding for the Neptune, believe me, keep going, its worth it. I can finally say with the Neptune, I'm able to get back to the same feel as the Fiji, which we all know its the BEST T7 cruiser out there.

Last, don't show your broadside, we all know RN CLs are like DDs, very fragile.

Thanks...

Neptune is a monumental upgrade from Edinburgh.  Going from the joy that is Fiji, you are forced to suffer through Edinburgh only to be heavily rewarded the rest of the way up the line.

Torps, finally, lots of them.

Emerald has EIGHT torps per side when fully upgraded. Treat it like my Konigsburg, Murmansk, and Marblehead; and it has never let me down.

Just finished the Leander grind last night... Utter disappointment compared to Emerald. As well, I can't seem to adapt to using the RN SAP, so that's it. Good luck, and I admire your dedication in persisting with them.

Not really, Edinburgh is fun because she's Fiji with better consumables and upgrades.  You get to fix 50% of your entire HP at a time with that super repair party, ain't that fun?

I once had an enemy BB say to me in chat: 'We get it, Neptune. You spam AP.'

Oh, I'm sorry. Would you prefer HE?

Wait until you get Minotaur.  Play the position game right and you can pound people.  They will hate you for it.

Minotaur however still showcases a negative aspect of RN CL AP.  When a target is bow on like that, the effectiveness of your shells dramatically drop.  I have had low HP New Orleans rush my Minotaur and she can't finish them off.  They get so close that I had to use torpedoes to finish them as the AP was ineffective.

When I play other ships and I engage multiple ones and one of the threats is an RN CL, I simply go bow on against the RN CL and finish off the other ship.  Once the other ship is dead, then I go straight for the RN CL.  Unless they do magic with torpedoes, they can't do anything to you as their AP just bounces.

So basically in my Neptune, if I pick AR for my Cap, and loose half the health, I could possibly get the reload times to 3s, right? Basically turn it into a Minotaur.

It won't go down as much as that. You cannot improve your reload time by 20% as you would be dead by the time you get it to that level. 0.2% increase for every 1% of HP lost. The best you could get it down to would be no quicker than 3.53 seconds. But that would increase your rof from 13.64 a minute (if you have MBM3) to close to 17 a minute.

Feel fee to correct me if my maths is wrong.  :)

You just don't go out there to lose HP to make AR worth it.  The hits on you will come from regular play, no need to go looking for it.  Which is why I go for AR.  The hits and damage will come on any RN CL anyways despite smoke, etc.  Otherwise we'd have no reason for repair party.  With natural wear and tear from battle, you will shoot a bit faster, that is all, but not Minotaur fast.  Your torpedoes also reload faster, and both Mino and Neptune pack powerful torpedo loadouts, some of the strongest of Tier VIII+ Cruisers.

Your math is more than likely better than mine.

All I can say is this: I just played 6 more games in this ship, and this last one just now, played it against Noster too (nice game). Every game was worth grinding for this ship. I cannot believe the amount of damage this ship does. WOW them guns are fast and hit hard.

If you grinding for this ship, its WORTH EVERY MINUTE OF IT.

Amazing ship guys.

Just had the best game ever.

150k damage

Kraken

Double Strike

About 1 min into the game, I was hit by the Yamato from full health to almost 20%. Was able to repair but up to about 60%. Then I was hit again by 2 DDs within smoke and went down to about 30%. I played at 30% the rest of the game, then revenge on that Yamato.

Took out the Yamato AND a DD at the same time from full health (payback is a [edited]). Yamato player WAS PISSED PISSED PISSED. I mean really salty player. EVERYONE congrats me for taking them down, even the enemy team, except the salty player lol. I was laughing my [edited]off, seriously.

My biggest issue with this ship is my playstyle. I like to go in hard and be very aggressive. Ive learned with Neptune you cannot do that all the time, it depends on the team. I'm able to now sit back a bit and watch the game develop, then BAM, hit hard.

One thing Ive learned from the Neptune VS Edi. Spam those darn torps guys. I don't wait anymore, I just spam them into any cap point or anywhere I see smoke (just watch for friendlies).

Ive since reset my Cap Skills and now have:

1:PT

2: Jack of all trades+SSE+AR

3: SE+SI

4: CE

This ship was worth every late night grind, and every sleepless day lol. Maybe ill upload the replay to Notser or someone on YouTube so you guys can see it

I'm struggling with the Neptune tbh. I like playing aggressive but it's not a frontline ship. If you can get to less than 12km from a target, it seems to wreck ships. But every time I play against T10s, I feel like I just get one shotted. Even lately when I have an island concealing me, enemy BBs will take a blindshot at me and land two shells for the majority of my health. The citadel being slightly larger and higher doesn't help.

Getting into ideal position and range is half the fight.  The problem for Neptune is not only is she a floating aluminum can for armor with a skyscraper citadel, but she has absolutely the worst concealment range for Tier VIII+ RN CLs.  You have to be savvy about that, or you're dead.  A Zao can rip a Neptune apart in one salvo.

Just about anyone can rip a Neptune apart in one salvo. It's a floating citadel.

I never thought I'd miss anything about the Edinburgh but that 6km concealment range...
