Audio feedback when hitting enemies

Recently, I have been watching older videos (CBT, OBT, etc.) and looking at how the game was back then. However, something caught my attention. A while ago (I'm uncertain until which patch) there were a lot of sounds regarding after hitting an enemy. Usually, a light "beep" for light hits (problably penetration), and a bell for critical hits like incapacitations or citadels, even a "pling" sound for ricochets. However, in the current game, I can only seem to get one sound, somewhat of a metallic swoosh sound. I apologize if I can't describe what I mean, it's difficult to do :P  Is there a setting or something that I'm missing? Can I get these sounds? I'd love more audio feedback.

EDIT: This video Yuro posted a while ago clearly demonstrates what I'm talking about, listen to when he hits enemies

1st, I don't know about anything audio.

2nd, THAT USERNAME! Up-vote for that alone.

I'm a little confused why they are gone, myself.

Interesting, I didn't notice it's gone.

I can recall it now.

It's probably because WG wants the sound to be more 'realistic'? Because you probably won't hearing bouncing shells 15km away.

Plus, all hits now display whether they pen or bounced, so, the sound difference is probably not important anymore?

I'd still prefer if they made it optional to put back in the game

I was complaining about the lack of audio feedback too, but it looks like most people didn't even notice they're gone. It probably is intentional on WG's part.

Its like how the ships in port used to creak with the waves... little audio queues that were great but disappeared...

I can still hear differences in the audio cues. They are pretty faint and it's a bit harder to tell when you have multiple types of hits going on. Probably the easiest sound you can tell is when you ricochet.

The sound I want is that really satisfying sound when you land a standard 33% penetration. I still hear it in recent videos, but I don't tend to notice it when I'm playing and that makes me sad.

A bit of that is concentration level. I hardly notice the music unless it is a lul in the battle, and few sounds immediately grab attention... secondaries, AA, and citadel pens to name a few.

To add to the thread, they may have dropped the hit sounds to emphesize the sounds when you sink a ship, or the announcer's voice for good solid hits.

The sound I miss the most is the one at 4:35. The salvo before that has a sound that I haven't heard for a long time as well.

I know a lot of people problably don't care, but the reason I bring this up is I would prefer to focus on what I'm shooting at (and what's shooting at me) without taking my eyes off the target. Little thing, I know, but it would be useful to have.

OK. I've been poking around and it looks like the sounds were removed just last patch. However, I can't find anywhere on the changelog where it even mentions audio. Could it possibly be a bug?

Bump, I checked the list of known issues and I checked every changelog I could find. I'm convinced this is a bug because nowhere it even mentions changes to audio related things.
