0.6.3 artillery camera issues

Did anyone notice how unresponsive and sluggish the artillery camera has become after this update?

 You can no longer double tap to zoom in and out fast using the same key but you have to wait for the camera to zoom all the way in and settle  before you can request a zoom-out action and vice versa. You can still assign 2 separate keys and press them quick in a sequence to be able to zoom in and out for that quick scoping but this is obviously not ideal.

 This creates issues both with shooting and keeping situation awareness high.

"artillery camera"?  You mean the thing that follows the shells in flight?  I've never found that useful.  Entertaining, maybe.

No. I mean the view you get when you zoom in that is by default bind to the "shift" key.

My issue with Shift is that I have to hold the key down for a beat or two and then release to get the zoom in or the zoom out.

 

If I do as I was doing before the new release, I get a quick "start zooming" which then reverses.  It acts like a key bounce, but holding the key down solves this.  I am not seeing any other evidence of key bounce, so I think this is a UI change.

 

I noted this behavior in the Test Server, but I did not know if it was my installation.  Again, since I am now seeing it Live and was not after seeing it in Test when playing Live through yesterday, I think this is an actual UI change.

 

I cannot see anything about the duration of the key press in the Controls.

 

I am using all stock and the alternate controls.  I was playing the Texas and a Black Swan just now.

 

I may have to play BBs for a while as the extra time to change zoom is going to be costly in anything that shoots faster.

I don't know if it was just me simply not pressing my shift key properly, somehow, but I felt the need to press my shift key more than once to zoom in on target multiple times today.

Getting the same issue that OP mentioned. Very poor and inconsistent response to the "Artillery View" command. Terrible impact on gameplay as I'm popping in and out of that view constantly during a game.

There is a delay bug that is incredibly frustrating, especially when shooting and manuevering in tight quarters.  I've beached more today that I did in the past 5 months combined because the stupid effing camera won't shift out of zoom.  This isn't a new issue.  People have been complaining about this bug for close to 3 weeks.  Russian quality control at its finest.

 

Oh and then there's the bug where your left mouse button won't work in game.  Yep, sailed around for 7 minutes trying to get my stupid shoot button to work.  This is the buggiest patch I've seen from WG.

Well that's a relief.....have had issues with zoom and shoot(have zoom keyed to my 5th mouse button).....thought I was up for a new mouse.

 

Is frustrating as hell when it happens.....

Does seem to be some issues I haven't seen before. Particularly keys not responding.

Also seeing the old issue with RN smoke, last puff won't go, you're left hanging out in the open.

Logged in just to add my voice to this annoying bug with my first and probably last post but THIS has made the game really hard to play as I prefer to zoom in and out as quick as possible so I am not tunnel vision'd. I hit more islands today than my usual weekly amount (weekly amount due to my location indicator -of all things- on the map of all things being too big and hiding islands from my glance at the minimap). I use spacebar instead of shift, but I tried defaulting to shift and it's the same unreliably unresponsive feeling of hitting space/shift and having to hit it again- even had 1 time where it took 4 tries. 

 

It's not my keyboard, other games respond just as they always did.

Please fix this :<

Glad this isn't just me.  None of the players on test server had any response when I would ask about this, so I thought it might have been tied to my keybinds (mouse 2 for arty cam).  It happens constantly and makes the whole play experience feel glitchy and slipshod.  Maybe BB drivers who stay scoped in and mostly scan around with freelook might not notice this (dev demographic? ^_^), but I'm finding the game too irritating to play atm.  Borderline unplayable.

 

HOTFIX ASAP

I reported this during PT on both "FEEDBACK" and BUG REPORT.

I also submitted a SUPPORT ticket. (Which support NA said, was not their's as it's the Russian server for PT and they had "very little" contact with the Russian server folks)

They (NA support) provided me with a LINK to the Russian Support staff, but alas, it was all in Russian, so useless for me!

 

Bugs during the last three PT's have not been fixed when reported during PT! But simply released and fixed after release.

I have posted and asked several times "what's the point of PT" if not to catch and fix "errors" before general release??

Yes, I zoom in and out with almost every salvo and now it's like there a one zoom per ten second limit.

I was having issues with fine adjustment of the zoom last night. I play with my zoom one "notch" out from full zoom in US DDs but last night had trouble for the first time ever. When I would zoom out from full zoom it would zoom out two "notches" for each mouse wheel notch, but zoom in one notch for every mouse wheel notch. Really weird. Turning down mouse wheel sensitivity fixed the issue, but something new going on here.

I was with this same problem... hope they fix it... When i tested it on PT in a ver 6.3 was having the same problem... i think the main problem its have to choose 2 diferent keys to do it...

I haven't paid any attention in the live patch... (only one game in)

 

But, I had what I though was some input lag in the 6.3 PTS. Where I would have to either hold shift or double tap it to get my camera to change.

Yet another one? Haven't played yet, so crossing my fingers.

 

I already get, on occasion, "Zoolander Mode", where the rudder goes hard right all by itself. Applying left rudder brings me back, but only enough to go straight. Lasts for about 30 sec.

 

Other one is every so often when I hit Enter to open the chat window, one of my turrets fires lol.

I have discovered the keyboard keys I used to zoom in and out while in artillery mode are gone. Now when I try to zoom out far enough to fire my Atlanta guns, the enemy ship is not visible. I used to have two keys to do this because I cannot use a mouse, so I use a trackball. Try zooming out to 14 or 16 in order to lead a shot and find you cannot. This is frustrating! Please fix.

Ditto, I usually rapidly alternate between scoped and overhead, especially when playing DDs. Last night I had to beat the crap out of the shift key to switch views

This bug is still present on the 6.4 test server.

This is a big deal when play action gets fast.....  

    

On another note. I wish they would make a setting for free look toggle.  I very much dislike holding down the mouse button.
