Introduction and First Impressions

Hey there. I thought I'd introduce myself since alot of newbies do it.

I've been following WoT for a bit and WoWS since release, but never downloaded it thinking it was going to be too unrealistic compared to other games I've played and picked War Thunder instead. After realizing I can't possibly run it, I stopped thinking about military combat MMOs until WoWS came out. I waited this long to download it since I was pretty sure I couldn't run the pretty graphics, so I was impressed when I tried it on a smooth 30-40fps.

My favourites to play as right now are IJN destroyers. I'm not sure if I'm good at playing destroyers, but I sure as hell love firing torpedos. I'm pretty good at aiming them, even though I'm sure higher-tiers will try to actually dodge them. I'm sure I'd like playing cruisers with torps, but I feel like destroyers are sneakier and faster, thus more forgiving if I get myself in a sticky situation while positioning to fire torps.

It's a nice game, I hope it stays that way.

Welcome! Beware, IJN destroyers get hard to play, but when done well they're devastating.

pewpewpew42 is right. IJN DD can be devastating if played right but it gets challenging at higher tiers due to capabilities of other ship classes (radar, smoke, ranged hydro) and your torps are not as "stealthy". Find a niche or play it all. Just have fun doing it. This game is a blast.

Welcome. Good luck and have fun!

Welcome aboard sailor; May the wind be at your back, your enemies sail straight, the enemy torpedoes miss by a mile and RNG be always in your favor. Remember to watch the mini map, change course and speed and use AP on board side ships at the water line. Don't get lost or sail alone, don't hug islands to close, don't show your broad side, push with your team, don't hang back in sniper mode and Have fun. Smoke on the water is dangerous, avoid friendly fire and don't feed the trolls. For any thing else use search or just ask.

The Sinksalot Fleet salutes you,
See you top side.

P.s. the Youtube channels of iChase, Notser, Flamu and even the Might Jingles has really good content for WoWs. The more you learn the better a captain you will become and the less you will be surprised. Also reading Patch notes is useful.

Welcome!  And I greatly agree with the above!  There's a lot of research and quality material out there that (if you are able to) will help you out in your first steps.

Also, always feel free to ask any questions you have.

Welcome, OP, I also hope your voyage in WoWS is enjoyable. Ijn DDs are challenging, as others say, but fun to play.

Welcome aboard!

Don't rush yourself up a line, try everything to get a feel for what they can do; even if only in co-op, and practice, practice, practice!

Get use to losing if you play random and are stuck on the green team! They don't know how to play as a team only care about their own hits and kills.  Red is by far a superior team and they play as a team, that's why they win 80% of the battles.
