Hey everyone,

Just curious if anyone heard of a fix for the horrific lag on NA Server... I also play on EU servers with ping of 120ms and I expierence no lag issues, I  live in Central Florida and playing on NA Server is almost unplayable, when I zoom in artillery cam to aim my salvo my fire button doesn't trigger until 2-3 seconds later. It's making for some horrible gameplay. Any help appreciated!

Be prepared OP... the nay sayers are coming to tell you that there is no lag, it's your connection or computer, blah, blah, blah. I know of the lag issues you experience very well and it prevents me from playing pvp as I would be be a weak link for my team. I have a top of the line gaming rig and a 60Mb internet connection. Other games play with no issues. Ping plotter proved the lag is occurring on the server side but 2 tickets and no answers so I just don't play the game very much.

Frankly, I think WG doesn't care some of their community experiences this issue and so I just put my money and time into other games and play a few co-op matches here just in case they actually fix it.

I also have a top-line machine and connection and I see the lag too - it started a couple of patches back.  It comes and goes.

So how is it that I play on a freaking Microsoft Surface Pro with less-than-minimum specs and I don't experience the same issues?  If it is the servers, I shouldn't be able to play at all.  I just love players that are so convinced it can't be on their end (or somewhere between their ISP and WG) and yet they have problems that no one else does.

Look up Digital Storm, Gaming Rig "Aurora" that's my machine with 1080 graphics card, it's the $4000 PC... and  besides any other games I play, I have no lag... Don't come back with me that it's my connection bruh...Or some other line of crap. If you have nothing useful or willing to help, don't bother posting.

Are you hard wired from your computer to the router?

I had problems with lag for a while and found out it was the wireless connection. The computer would say i am stable, but the connection would be lost for a short burst that would only seem to affect WoWs in the form of lag (did not have any problems with other online games).  Once i hard wired the connection, no more problems.

Just because your other games don't have issues doesn't mean that there couldn't be an issue along the network route to the Wargaming Server. I find that more likely than it being something with their server or your computer. That is honestly the most common cause of lag/connectivity issues with online games. And that is not a "line of crap" but sadly there is not really much you can do about it.

It's true, I do run my PC thru wireless...And yes it does show stable, and I've checked multiple test sites for speed ECT...Not to mention other games, and playing WoWS EU server without any hiccups...Is it possible WoWS NA doesn't do well with wireless? Just doesn't make any sense.

I was having instances of absolutely horrendous lag yesterday, the ping counter would visible go to anywhere between 600 and 1200ms during

Has massively over-priced computer?

Plays online games through wireless connection?

Complains about lag?

I just love it when someone offers their own individual anecdote, convinced that in doing so, they've produced evidence that a technical problem others have been reporting is due to something else entirely or nonexistent -- with conviction. Very useful.

Speaking from experience with this myself, I would recommend to anyone playing the game via a WiFi connection try plugging in instead for more reliable performance. It's an easy way to gain more diagnostic information or an opportunity eliminate or verify whether it's the variable in the chain that's a problem.

I've been seeing lag nightly around 9:30-10:30pm PST, but it's AT&T's backbone that's causing the issue for me. Bandwidth drops to crap and ping jumps to 700ms at times.

it's likely your ISP is going through a slow hop somewhere that you are not hitting going to EU.  It's the exact same code on the EU servers as it is on the NA servers.  the only difference is the network path TO the server.

For the record, I am using wireless, and have zero issues.

Actually, wireless adds a LOT of variables to the equation.

It could be his router or NIC card. It could be somebody is running a microwave or using a cordless phone. It could be a garage door opener. It could be his neighbor's satellite dish.

I would never play an online game wirelessly. Never. Ever. Never.

My ping in game is 30-35ms.

Qualifications: I can hand-crimp CAT5 cables.

Same problem 2100 to 2300 PST, with a good computer directly connected to AT&T. Too many neighbors loading porn at that time, I suspect. AT&T is the only game in town for me. I have a hard enough time being an asset to my team, without freezing at the worst possible time (finger on the trigger to kill the last red BB).

I didn't offer said anecdote to *prove* anything, only to illustrate that if my potato-king-of-all-potatoes can play acceptably, but his $4K rig does not, it *might* not be the game itself that is the problem.  The conversation that others have contributed to seems to bear that out.

I would check with your ISP. I live In Brisbane, Australia, and I get 108ms ping, a perfectly playable ping compared to Tanks' 270ms.

Considering that I am currently undertaking my Cisco network engineering certification at work as well as working for a company that offers cloud based computing and servers for businesses across OS X, Windows(and Windows server), I can say the delays you are experiencing are local to your ISP, your location, and the internal networking in your house.

No - most of us state the users need to check to see if their lag is a problem within the path to the servers or other non-WG related reason before insisting it HAS to be them.  A general hard and fast rule is - if others on the server do not experience lag - then it is much less likely to be on the server side.  I have had incidents on both - server lag and lag just by myself.  it is an internet game - there will be lag from time to time - no real way to completely avoid it for everyone.  They will get it to the point where the vast majority has little to no issues but not really worth the money spent to try and eliminate something that can't be truly eliminated for everyone.

Fast internet connections and other games mean nothing as other games are on other servers with different routes.  There are a TON of potential reasons to look at before going to WG.  A while back - with another game- it took me 2-3 weeks to find a routing issue so issues are not always immediately apparent.  Even using tracert or ping is not perfect as many pieces of hardware are set to ignore ping packets to help prevent DDoS attacks.

After considerable observation and multiple test, I discovered that my internet speeds varied greatly from time to time causing packet loss... I called up my ISP had a tech come out and we discovered it was intermittent issues on my router, we replaced it and now I'm getting 75 Mbps via WiFi now... versus the 10-20 Mbps I was getting before we replaced it. Thanks for the help.

ahh, the lag issue.

right first up, i live in Zimbabwe. yup, AFRICA people. southern Africa. that means that i am 8000 miles away from the nearest landfall of continental USA, Florida. i know all about lag and doing everything i can to get better latency. i also know its more than possible to live with a stable high latency.

my ping on avg is around 170ms. i use a 20MBS fibre uplink. yes, i do see occasional lag spikes but they are 99% my side. they can be caused by:

not having a hard line to my router.

my isp experiencing issues.

system updates my computer or other programs may do without asking/telling me

any one in my house doing ANYTHING on the network. wife streaming netflix, LAG. Wife looking at instagram, LAG. Some one calls me on whatsapp, LAG.

another myth about lag to dispel, 95% of all lag has NOTHING to do with your rig. so saying you have a $4000 rig dont mean nothing when it comes to lag. i have a pretty beafy rig. it will experience lag just the same as my bro in the next room (we game together when he visits) and hes on a crappy lap top.

so what can you do about lag?

1. make sure you have a hard line to your router.

2. use a good isp, fibre if you can afford/have access

3. if your trying to game at a time when your family is heavily using the network, either wait for them to stop or ask them nicely.

4. port your router. this can be very technical but in a nutshell, there are certain ports that WG use for their games. on some routers you can prioritize any connection being made through these ports.

5. if your experiencing lag, check that your own computer isnt doing anything to cause it. youtube closed? itunes updating? anti virus taking over your bandwidth? all things that can cause lag.

hope this helps people. next time you complain about 100ms latency, remember, I WILL GLADLY SWAP WITH YOU
