 WG: "We need to make IJN destroyers more appealing."

 Dev: "Let's give players a choice to swap out their smoke consumables with torpedo reload consumables

 WG: "Great idea"

 

-after implementation-

Situation 1

 "I need smoke more than I need torpedo reload consumable"

 

Situation 2

 Player 1: *uses torpedo reload*

 torpedo'd red ship with the 2nd reload

 Player 2: "Are you hacking?! HOW ARE YOU HACKING?!!! HOW DID YOU RELOAD IN LESS THAN A SECOND!!

 Player 1: "It's called torpedo reload consumable, also torpedo reload timers are server side, not client side"

 Player 2: "THERE'S NO SUCH THING AS CLIENT YOU [redacted] [redacted]!!!! YOU ARE SO  FULL OF IT!! NOW YOU'RE GOING TO SAY THAT I DON'T READ THE FORUMS!!! I DON'T NEED  TO READ THE FORUMS BECAUSE IT'S OBVIOUS YOUR HAKING!! OMG FAKE NEWB!! WHY  ARE YOU SO STUPID!! IM GOIN TO RPORT THIS TO WG! 2 patches before IJN DD split

 WG: The IJN DD population is falling fast, let's introduce poi-[redacted] and gunboot waifus to reel the weebs back  into the  game.

 Dev: Great idea, but we need to do something about Fu-booty because all the unicum players are playing her so  much and all the BBs and CAs are screaming for nerfs.

 WG: Hmmm...Let's bring her down a few tiers and nerf her guns

 Dev: Good idea, let's also call her a torpedo boat if she forgoes the smoke consumable skill so that we can save our  necks  from the nerfs. Also since Shiratsuyu is poi-[redacted] let's give nerf her speed but give her smoke as  compensation.

 WG: "EXCELLENT"

 

1 IJN DD Split later

Situation 1:

 NANODESU

 HAWAWAWA

 POI IS SHIP [REDACTED]!!!

 IJN Players: "Wait...no Defensive AA consumable? I thought Akizuki was an AA-gunboot"

 WG: "We value ship balance very much and we believe Def AA is an USN DD specialty."

 IJN Players: "Ohh...keeeyyy..."

 

Situation 3:

 Meanwhile in tier 5 and 6: 

 

 

0.6.0 Planning Room

 WG: "Alright...we need to appease the Russian players. They want us to be more patriotic. How should we balance  the Russian DD split?

 Dev: "I have an idea"

 

Russian DD Testing Phase

 WG: "New T10 Russian DD will have Defensive AA

 IJN Players: "You mother-*****"

Apparently they're planning on nerfing Akizuki's AA rating. Surprisingly, she's....shooting down too many planes.

Simple solution: Play Battleship.

 

In a few patches, we will all be playing battleships, just in different sizes.

Give her 20km torps as compensation.

But seriously though, why can't the Torpedo boost reload consumable replace the speed boost instead of smoke or be another consumable slot altogether like it is on the so-called "IJN gunboat line."

 

You can forgo speed boost on USN DDs for Def AA

You can forgo smoke for heal on the Kebab

You can forgo engine boost for DefAA on grozovoy

 

I don't know enough about the German DDs tho...BUT MY POINT STILL STANDS!

You can forgo speed boost on USN DDs for Def AA

You can forgo smoke for heal on the Kebab

You can forgo engine boost for DefAA on grozovoy

 

I don't know enough about the German DDs tho...BUT MY POINT STILL STANDS!

I'd ask for a change to the game mechanics on IJN torpedoes with ranges over 12km.  Single fire and straight volley (no fanning; just a wider straight-line the width of the torpedo launcher), allowing for asymmetric drops (making dodging harder) or pure, focused hate (due to a lack of spread).  The former also causes reload delays since a launcher will not reload until all torps are dropped or manual reload is triggered, but allows saving of those two torps for a surprise on a ship that thought they dodged it all or dodged most but ate one or two and triggered Damage Control.

 

Then give all IJN DDs the near-instant reload boost consumable available to Shiratsuyu and Akizuki, while giving IJN cruisers the older 50% torpedo reload boost consumable and access to torpedoes over 12km.

Heaven forbid the purpose-built anti-air escort destroyer actually perform the role of anti-air.

 

Then again they didn't give it defensive fire and a dev recently said they "never intended it to be good at anti-air" and "Nobody expected it to shoot down planes"

 

Seriously do they even know what this ship was for?

Well if you want her to have great AA ability then her puny 100mm guns should'nt be hurting any of the ship in game. Rely simply on fires and torpedo hits for its damage. Or she can continue to hurt all ships in game with her asinine 100m guns but her aa needs to be gutted to fubuki level. Its a either or thing  as the saying goes you cant have your cake and it.

If you didn't let your hatred blind you so much, you could have done your research and not look like a fool.

Teruzuki damaged 1 cruiser, 6 destroyers and sank one of those destroyers with gunfire alone.

 

100mm shells don't do a lot of damage per hit, but the sheer amount of shells these guns can spit out will destroy ships on the receiving end.

Wargaming just figured to hell with balancing the classes, it'd be easier to balance ships if there was only 1 class to have to work with. They just happened to pick the class that is most expensive in the premium shop and go from there. :trollface:

Anytime there's a CV on the other team, I know my Kagero is totally useless without smoke.

Because a torp wall from one smoked DD is OP. Shimakaze's privilege only.
