Times where you are thoroughly engaged in the game and times where you simply don't care. For whatever reason, I've reached a point of apathy recently regarding WoWS. Not sure why, perhaps this will be a temporary hiatus... perhaps not. Overall, the game is fantastic, but too much of a good thing can get old. As such, I think WoWS and I are going to take a break. I'm curious how others stay engaged. Changing up classes? Taking breaks? Playing with others? ~Your friendly neighborhood wombat, signing out (for now). ...let's be honest though. WoWS is too good to simply walk away forever. Edited March 9, 2017 by Kombat_W0MBAT

Took a few months off, played some other games on my Steam list, read some books that had been ignored for awhile, knocked out a few back-logged TV series on Netflix/Amazon. Plenty of other stuff to do while Warships adds content (maybe).

37 [RRC] bullittmcqueen Members 293 posts 4,761 battles Report post #9 Posted March 9, 2017 If I keep finding new ships or captains to grind, then it stays interesting. Case in point, the game was all but dead to me about 8 months ago. I had only played BBs and was not very good in them to say the least. My brother in law suggested I buy the Atlanta. I did, with hesitation. It was like a new game and I had never had as much fun playing WoWs. I then started grinding the USN DD line and now I don't think I've played a BB in over 6 months. This past 2 weeks I started grinding the RU DDs on my way to the Khabarovsk. New captains to level up. New playstyle to learn. Keeps it fresh. When I run out of fresh ships, I suppose I'll be done. 613 [CHEEZ] twitch133 Members 2,614 posts 4,941 battles Report post #10 Posted March 9, 2017 (edited) It is hard for me to stay engaged with a game for long periods of time. The whole reason that I found Warships was taking a break from Battlefield 4. I had racked up a thousand plus battles (The average battlefield battle is more than twice the duration of a warships battle) over several hundred hours of play time, and I just needed something new. Now, by the time that I came back to it, Battlefield 1 was already out, but AA titles like that do not have a very long lifespan before a replacement is released. Right now, I have not been getting very many games in on Warships, but I am not taking a complete break either. As I just got done grinding out "Horizon, Zero Dawn" (Best single player game I have ever played BTW... Every high expectation I had for it, every chance it had to let me down, it did the opposite and blew me away. They really set the bar sky high with this game and somehow exceeded it by miles Lightyears. It left me sitting there staring at the screen in awe for the better part of 30 minutes when I completed it. If you have a chance to play this game, do it NOW!!!) And Ghost recon: Wildlands was just released this week. That is my way to avoid burnout, I play several titles at once, and am not afraid to ignore one for a week or more if another is more interesting to me at the moment. TBH I really wish we could get a new BB line bc personally i'm sick of all these new cruisers and destroyers.

All in all I like the game but the best thing to do is remove yourself from it from time to time, and let of some steam/anxiety

Losses are more bearable and victories more enjoyable when someone is there to empathize or celebrate with. Truthfully, warships is the only game I've played in the last 5 years. Variety is a wonderful thing, Who knows, maybe I'll put games aside entirely and start training for that half-marathon my wife keeps talking about.

I've had the pleasure of playing with you a time or two and you have skill. A break from the game, if only for a short time, can always be beneficial. With all of the new lines they are hinting at this year, I think the game will stay fresh, so maybe you will have something to grind for after your hiatus. I'd be honored to play with or against you again. b

89 [JUGGZ] Mordran Members 256 posts 2,930 battles Report post #19 Posted March 9, 2017 MMOs get repetitive by nature the longer you play unless you're playing with other people. I'm the same way with most games though, I play a video game constantly for a while and then I'll get tired of it and move on to something else for a while and usually the cycle repeats and at some point I'll come back. I was gone for a year before I started this back up (though mostly because I forgot WoWS existed). I've been skipping the gym to play WoWS at night and I should really stop that >.>

4,521 [WOLF7] awiggin Members 12,620 posts Report post #21 Posted March 9, 2017 I play a couple games a week at most right now. Just can't find much motivation at all. Lost it all on the convoy mission, and have no idea if I'll ever regain it. If i take an extended break, i'll likely never come back to the game for any amount of time, just that way it seems to work with me. If WG does not start providing some options/new modes, I doubt I'll ever get back into it. I was hoping upgrading my Vid card would change things, game plays great and looks surprisingly good now @ 60fps and high settings, but it simply hasn't motivated me to play more. Just a kind of "wait and see" game for me right now.
4,173 Pope_Shizzle Members 3,229 posts 7,820 battles Report post #22 Posted March 9, 2017 It can be tough sometimes. Right now, I'm kind of feeling similar. There is nothing left for me to grind. I've already gotten all the 10's save the Hak, Midway, Groz and Z52, none of which I have any desire to play. With no team battles or competitive play, I'm having a hard time staying engaged. The tier I enjoyed most, tier 6, has been ruined by the matchmaker. All that's left is high tier stuff, which while it can be fun, can be taxing and immensely frustrating at times. I am actively looking for a new game to invest in.

But is sounds like this is past the point of making the game more enjoyable. Into the "straight up burnt out" territory. For most people, that means another title or genre to break up the gameplay a little bit. Which... on that note. I am the same way, always up for a div, as the game is much less.... frustrating, with friends, or, as you said, friendly strangers.
