This thing has ridiculous stealth for the amount of firepower it packs.

It goes down super quick tho.  Even T4 BBs with their lol-dispersion can hit this thing since it's long and not very maneuverable.

I thought it'd be more durable but I guess it inherited more from MOM the DD than DAD the CL.

I'd be willing to trade 2km of concealment for 7km torpedoes, but I really don't think anyone wants that, lol.

Another mouse review = another purchase for me. Poor Credit Card. lol

It's only 20 CAD or about 15 USD... it's a good purchase and not wallet intensive.

I know I was making a bit of a joke. She does such good reviews it leads me to purchase lots of ships. It adds up over time. For Okhotnik I agree it is a good purchase I have had a ton of fun in the few battles I've ran her in so far. Probably gonna be my go to ship for mid-tier destroyer fun for a good long while.

And that would be why she was never built in steel.

Pretty sure it was the communist revolution that stopped her from being built, after Lenin and Stalin carried out their purges.

My Two Penny worth:

Every match I have played has been a charge of the light brigade. This baby can devastate even usn DDs if they hesitate for a sec. That alpha strike unnerves them, forcing them to make mistakes. Most of my kills have come from ambushing cruisers and battleships with that shimikaze jnr wall of death.

True I haven't survived most of my matches in her, as I play her aggressive, but lest damage I did in a match was 48K. Those guns are love letters from death itself.

Without AFT, when she's fighting Tier VI and lower it's okay.  But when facing the power of Tier VII ships the range of those Cruisers and Battleships become an issue.  Even with 11km gun range that AFT should give it, it's dicey engaging Tier VII Cruisers / BBs.  You ask a Nagato or Scharnhorst, or any Tier VII Cruiser player, what are their chances of hitting a DD at 11km range?  Yeah.  I'm finding in such cases I have to be far more reserved in my actions.  Thankfully with CE+Camo I can sneak around well and spot.  The guns will still be something against the DDs and targets of opportunity but I restrict my engagements when bottom tier.

I'll just continue waiting for Novik (1911), Orfey and Fidonisy. Don't know why WG never chose any of those real ships but I guess they wanted a tier 5 replacement for the OP Gremy.

Yeah, still missing eight real ship classes in the game.

Novik (1911)

Orfey

Fidonisy

Soobrazitelnyy aka Project 7U (plus the Storozhevoi 1944 reconstruction)

Skoryy or Smelyi

Opytny

Neustrashimy

Kotlin

Anything that has Radar or RPF will utterly own Okhotnik.

She's not made to handle those kind of challenges.

T7 is pretty much out of the question unless you get an island map and have a good team.

Yeah my last match had Tier VIIs in there.  The DD that went my way was a Tier VI Gnevny.  That I wasn't worried about.  What scared me was I caught a very brief glimpse to the side of the screen of Belfast who looked like she was prepping to smoke.  I made d@mn sure I was not in range for that.

Despite those issues, even in Tier VII matches, at least Okhotnik has excellent concealment with the right build.  If I can't safely engage with guns, much less use 4.5km torps (lel) then I can at least spot for the team as if I was an IJN DD.  But unlike those stealthy IJN DDs, I got no weapons to safely engage in concealment.  I fight so many urges to open fire that would give me away

I think this ship is somewhat OP.

It's the T5 Akizuki without AA and better stealth than a majority of IJN torp boats.

Which makes you rather annoying for them.

it is also very low on the water making it tough to hit with excellent first shot alpha to wreck DDs firing first .    it is another p2w OP ship from WG.     you will outgun most t5-7 DDs.

I was really leery of purchasing yet another Russian ship, but it was nice to see another boat flying the Cross of St. Andrew (I loathe the Soviets). As for the vessel itself... stupidly OP when top tier... quirky when bottom. It's really satisfying popping tier 7 battleships in a tier 5 DD (coming from out of nowhere) with the unavoidable skill wave.

I've only played a few games with her in co-op, but she's an absolute BLAST.  So many guns, so many torps... so many meters in length.  She dances like a tranq'd hippo, but hits like a leopard fueled with a thousand Red Bulls.  Quirky ship, but hilarious fun.

I have played 3 games with her.  Lost all three.

Now, I want to blame the ship.  But, I can't.  The first two games were T7 games (of course), and I finished 4th and 1st in those.  The third game was a lot of T5 with a few T6's and T7's.  Again, placed 1st...but the stupidity and poor decisions on my team had me smashing my head against my keyboard and screaming "WHY?!?".

My performance in all three was...meh, okay.  The decisions of many of my team mates, however...OMG.  The last game was just silly.  A Fiji who refused to attack two destroyers who were pulverizing our capping BB...and two team mates in cruisers (one was the same freakin' Fiji) who preferred to pop shots at a battleship rather than killing the cruiser protecting her.  Despite the escort I managed to drive in and torp the Shiny Horse to death...as I said I would do if they would kill the darned cruiser.  But wow, my teams tonight.

I know, I know...I sound like the sore loser who dies and blames the team.  I'm all about mea culpa if warranted...but some of these captains...!

So, in 3 games I have had some mediocre and some good results...but all very frustrating losses.  Time to move to the Kamikaze R for some revenge.  I may even resort to Nikolai.  Hey, things are getting desperate, today.

I feel like I'm driving a limousine whenever I play this ship. So hilarious. :D

Yesterday, in one game, I managed to get up close and torp a Colorado too focused on killing a friendly Colorado. In another game, I torped a Wyoming who strayed from the herd from full health to zero right at the beginning of the match.

Now release the HNLMS De Ruyter so that we have a chance to drive the last ship from the game's era still in active service.

All due respect to the powers that be. Everybody is concentrating on the guns. The last thing you want to do with this boat is fire the guns unless you have too. It's a sneak up close with CE. Boost the last 1.2 km to torp range and unleash the fish in a tight but spread pattern. You will get hit but continue the turn and pop smoke. Angle slightly and finish him off with one salvo of the guns. Should be good for 3 or 4 BB deletions per game. Still figuring it out but I got 2 one game before the CV cleaned my clock cuz it turns like a lead sled. It ain't about the guns. Forget AFT take CE.

Respectfully you're asking us to ignore the seven (7) 130 mm rifles provided to us by Putin himself?  Nonsense!  Find other DDs and watch them soil themselves when your first salvo hits. Happily citadel light cruisers from 10 km and in. Light BBs on fire.

And pray that the enemy CV doesn't notice you or fails to realize that your AA is only slightly better than Fujin's, but you turn like Yamato.

I just got it yesterday and...I really like this destroyer. The same tier DDs have no chance if they get hit with a full salvo, But I find you just have to hit them from smoke, wait, wait, then fire again. It is hilarious because you could potentially hit 3 battleships with 12 torpedoes, hide in smoke, and fire again. The possibilities are endless for sneaky.

Just think ninja and you got a nasty boat. If they buff the turret speed, it would be seriously a pest. Buff the torpedoes to 5km and many will cry foul. Who wants 12 torpedoes coming at them from ninja range?

This DD is a DD killer, but even up close to a BB, it can delete a BB with just 6 torpedoes and still have 6 left in case you miss. Reaction time from torpedoes fired from longer ranges only allows a BB to change course, but at 4.5km, you have to be Neo to dodge. 130MM guns show exactly why a US 5 inch gun would be cancer if BB SecBat had 50% more accuracy and 10 km range. I see why WG had to balance that or DD players would never get close.

Yeah, it is long and steers like a bus. Sure, you are fish food if you are careless. This is a DD for that DD aficionado that likes to cuddle ships with HE and torpedoes, surely expects not to miss much.

It is not for the faint of heart. You have to think Russian. You have to think your DD captain's beard will autobounce AP and the Serfs you packed in the forward compartments will keep the fire down to a minimum. You have to imagine you are invisible to everybody even when you are spotted. You have to have a good size of walnuts, because many players already think your nuts. you have to embrace the Derp side of the Force. When you see fat boats and the urge to go after them is so compelling because your 12 torpedoes need a new home.

It takes a special kind of player to sail in the Okhotnik. Special, Crazy Ivan Special.

I can only imagine that one of the things that Okhotnik captains have to be wary of is torpedoes headed towards their smoke.

Being a longship seems to have its disadvantages, as one Okhotnik I fought quickly learned. XD

Next WG ship is the Russian destroyer Idiotnisk with 80 knot 20km torpedoes, 15 rapid fire 6 inch guns, and a 3km detection range. It's based on a wet dream Stalin once had.
