Italian Premium Cruiser Incoming!

Which is strange considering we are about to get the French Cruiser line. So looks like we will be getting 2 Italian premiums this year. The BB Roma and the Cruiser Duca d'Aosta.

WOW! Was not expecting this! Super excited about to see another Italian ship and look at the paint scheme too.  Cannot wait to see Roma now.

She's at tier 6 and looks like the Italian version of Molotov. I am very much looking fir are to her!

Was hoping for a Zara-class (ideally Pola, as if I needed another excuse to play drunk ) but this also looks interesting.

 

The comparison to Molotov is appropriate as well, since the Duca d'Aosta is a member of the Condottieri-class that the Kirovs were inspired by.

I am very much looking forward to her and am glad that we will have 2 premium Italian ships this year. I just find it interesting that it was announced right at the same time as the French Cruiser line and we will be getting an Italian premium cruiser around the same time as we are getting the French Cruiser line and not getting a French premium cruiser. WoWs Asia's FB has a very good track record of putting up/announcing our upcoming premiums about 2 weeks before WG puts them out into testing with the STs. The NA servers FB page used to do the exact same thing. So it looks like we could be getting her fairly soon.

Since Italy and the USSR were allies at the beginning of WW2, there was a lot of ship design collaboration (poor choice of words.. lol).

The USSR was also awarded a lot of RM ships at the end of the war as well.

This influence is seen throughout the VMF cruiser line.  Love those double streamlined stacks.

Yup! Something about the lines of the Italian ships just screams sexy and seems like a sports car to me.

I personally prefer the Duca degli Abruzzi sub-class for Condottieri-class cruisers, but the d'Aosta is nice. Italian ships in the interwar and WW2 era were rather pretty. She's also a speed demon, 36.5knts holy...

 

Should be an interesting match against the Molotov, Budyonny and others.

Yup, Kirov was essentially the hull of the Montecuccoli, which is the class that preceded the d'Aosta.

 

d'Aosta had a 70mm belt, with a 35mm bulkhead behind that. The deck was also 35mm...

 

I imagine the guns would be the later issued ones, model 1929, so a 47.5kg AP shell fired at 850mps, at 8 rpm. So should be something like 3000 damage on the AP shell. 

 

HE was shot 950mps... so....

This is a premium, so the 5th Condottieri group could end up being the tech tree ship, especially considering the fact that d'aosta was considered the 'lead' ship of her sub-class (4th Condottieri group).

Think of her like Molotov's aunt. D'Aosta's older sister was Kirov's mama, and Molotov is basically Kirov's half-sister.

Well they have in-game pics of her camo with that paint scheme, so I think it's a pretty safe bet she will have that scheme when released.

Also note that Octavian just stated in the RU forums that a smoke timer should/is on track to be released with patch 0.6.3. along with they're in the process of designing more campaigns. But back on topic to this sexy Italians premium.
