So tired of having terrible Torpedoes . I do not want a Russian OP gunship that'goes so fast nobody can hit it with laser beams for guns . I want my Minekaze restored to pre- nerf settings . It's torps are slow and weak  . All the torp nerfs on the IJN line need to be removed  so they can be competitive . Stop making this a guns only game for Russian  ships  .

They reduced the speed without buffing spotting, so they take longer to hit the target and are still spotted just as far away, no matter how close or far away you fire them the terrible spotting range makes them the easiest torps to dodge.

I am not great at WoWS, nor am I a dedicated DD player (I've played pretty much everything equally, except CV which I've played sparingly). IJN DDs can do silly, silly things with the right mindset. Stop being a victim and leverage the assets you have to make your enemy cope with your strengths.

Captain skills (16pts) are as follows: 

1 PM (would switch to PT if I had it to do all over again)

2 TA, LS

3 TAE

4 CE, RL

 

I had the Type 93 torps as my weapon of choice (8km range 72 knot speed, friggin huge warhead).

 

Play smart, know where the radars are and use radio location to avoid any nasty cases of "Surprise Benson!" (the worst surprise). If you can't pick on isolated targets or have to launch at max range, try to do so in such a way that geography will likely force the reds into your torps or at least force the reds to show a friendly BB some broadside in order to dodge them.

 

Lastly: You have guns, use them! Be smart about it of course, only pick on things that can't fight back or a low health DD, but I see so many IJN DDs leave so much damage on the table because they won't use their guns that it's disgusting. Heck! it's fun to pop your guns off once at a DD hunter (at near your max gun range) and get them to chase after you... you'll stealth up again soon and you can either merrily lead them into your torps, or at the very least, force them to overextend and get obliterated by your team (this is how I usually die when I'm in a cruiser... rabidly chasing the DD).

The only one I have that bugs me is the Hatsuhara as it seems turtle slow compared to other destroyers. I may decide to sell it.

I agree regarding guns.  At the same time, IJN DD guns (with very few exceptions) seem so lame that it can feel like a waste of time to use them.  It gets frustrating to use IJN DD guns when their turrets turn so friggin' slowly that they can't come close to keeping up with your ship's turn rate.  Heck, you can't dogfight another DD (bobbing and weaving to avoid enemy shells) without constantly having to wait for your guns to get back on target.

 

On top of all this, torpedoes are a very unreliable weapon for damage production because the overall hit rate tend to be very low.  Torps are by and large undependable.  It would be nice if the devs would improve the guns on IJN DDs across the board enough so that they don't have to utterly depend on running across a few noob BB drivers to get some damage production.

WOW! I knew that if *I* managed the numbers I did that someone more dedicated could easily do better, but that is one sweet looking stat line :honoring:

Just add a 10 pt captain, and you have a nice IJN DD killer, with 10 km torps.

IJN line has lost all identity characteristics. So just play other lines as I do.

Only fun IJN DD remaining is Kamikaze / Fujin

I agree.  Played the Minekaze around 15 games post-nerf.  It sucks.  Pretty lame ship now that does nothing well.

WG never admits anything. They almost never reverse nerfs. But rest assured, they are "looking at it", and will address this issue "soon". Probably with another nerf, with a meaningless buff to another irrelevant area (see "buff" to the IJN guns)
