Hi guys,

I played Gnevny through tier 5, liked her though the experience was a bit tainted by rng leaning on the bad side with her.

I was wondering if there is any point in playing her again since it is the same ship, but one tier higher. Any special new gimmick, any significant positive change in playing experience, anything new at all besides having to deal with T8 accuracy and secondaries?

I won't get to play with the new VMF DDs until after work, but at least with the old line, Kiev at t7 was where it got really good and stayed good all the way up. I even enjoyed t6 Ognevoi but I know many people didn't. Gnevny at t5 was a turd, but I'm sure she's been buffed with the tier change. I look forward to trying her when I get home and seeing what they changed.

with the new HE damage to the RN dds gnevny looks to be able to do more damage and if its gun range got moved up even a little it will do really well.

No. Gnevny is still bad. Premium Gremy at T5 is still worlds better than Gnevny, even with that horrid traverse.

I really didn't like the Gnevny because of the slow traverse, and I don't think the new one would change my mind.

I'm glad I went up the Russian DDs before the split because now there are three ships with the same slow turret-traversing config, instead of just the Gnevny.

I guess it depends on if you want to progress up the tree or not.

I already have the upper tier unlocked.

For what I've seen, Podvoisky and Minsk are new ships so it could be interesting to try then, at least for novelty value, new Ogny is a new ship in all but name and Kiev is just Kiev on steroids, no excuse needed to play Kiev. Yet with Gnevny i see nothing new on the table but the improved HE, not a game changer, no new dance steps to learn with her.

That's kind of like complaining that a Hamburger is bad because it's not Filet Mignon.  Gremy is one of the most OP premiums in the game.  In other news, the Imperator Nikolai is a better T4 BB than the Wyoming.

I thought Gnevny was fine at T5.  A little more of a skill requirement than other T5 DDs as you have to know how to maneuver to mitigate the slow turret traverse.  But once I got the hang of her, she was fine.  Those guns eat broadside cruisers for breakfast.

As for Gnevny at T6, looks like in other than the the global improvement to HE shell damage, the only other significant buff is an 18% improvement to turret traverse (down to 30 sec. from 36 sec.).  Eh.  Definitely welcome, but I suspect she's not going to shine at T6 as much as she did at T5.
