Okay... Just updated my game.

There is no way in hell I am going to play a Tier 7 DD with:

1) 30 sec turret rotation; and

2) 4 km torps; and

3) 7.74 km stock detection.

If there is any good came out of it, that would be 5 x 1 batteries.

I am one click away from selling it... Now I have to retrain my 15 pt old Kiev/Minsk captain. Thank you WG.

Didn't notice the 43 knot base speed, did you ... Turret rotation is meaningless when you're not meant to knife-fight anyways, and have all the tools necessary to dictate any engagement.

JUST PLAYED MINE......I LOVE IT!!!!!  turret rotation is blah, but I went with the Module Plus the BFT skill and slower ROF is hardly a thing.... it burns things just fine, and even has a very small ninja window....

so far so good...... I like her.... might even try a ranked game.....

She is a Leningrad with 4km torps that go 70 knots, you aren't a knife fighter but those torps a pretty good for ambushes

The Minsk is basically a Leningrad with crappy torps.  If you have the Leningrad, I see little reason to keep and play the Minsk beyond what's necessary to grind past her.

This said, in my view the Leningrad is primarily a gunboat with somewhat useable torps as a bonus -- I've had good games in the Leningrad where I didn't really use the torps at all -- so my feeling is the Minsk will still be playable, albiet clearly inferior to her premium sister.

Losing the 8km torps is significant, but Leningrad would be a good ship even without them.

I have the Leningrad and the Gremyaschy, so my old Gnveny captain fits perfectly in both.  In the new Gnevy also, but I have to PAY to move the captain to where he belongs.  Yes, I knew that before this morning.

7.74km stock detection isn't bad at T7.

It's a huge improvement over the 9.0km of Kiev.

It is Still better than Mahan's 7.9km.

It is 100% the same as Blyskawica and Maass.

The ship itself isn't a cap brawler and more of a close cap support ship.

For me, I just can't justify keeping it since I won't play it. (not to mention lack of high skilled captain to man all the ships)       still deciding what will be the keepers.   (beyond kiev, udaloi and khab)

I never saw the 4km torps to be a huge detriment to the performance of the ship. I never  got the 8km fish on the Tashkent and did just fine. Both ships are fast enough to YOLO into a battleship and kill it with point blank torps without getting obliterated. As always, RNGsus is a fickle deity, and your mileage may vary.

Open your mind to other DD playstyles. Embrace your inner gunboat and follow the advice above.

The thing about the Leningrad is that you really need a high-point captain to take full advantage of her.  Without CE, her stealth torp window is razor thin and difficult to use.  But you also want AFT so you can take full advantage of her great gun arcs and ability to hit stuff at long range.  And the slow turret rotation means you really want EM *and* LS at the 2-point skill tier.

There's something to be said for the Minsk being a gunboat, and nothing but a gunboat.  If nothing else, this makes the captain skill choices much easier.

Don't sell it!  I jumped in the game today ran two battles in the new RU DD's.   I do not have a ton of information yet having only played two battles but those two battles left me liking what I saw.  I played the Minsk and the Ognevoi.  I can only say DAMN!  The Minsk is an awesome little gunboat.  I threw on a speed flag forgot to load premium consumables and went out and just DAMN!.  Fast as all hell and the guns are typically awesome RU destroyer guns.  I got two caps, killed two enemy DD's and ambushed one enemy BB with torps from 3 km.  It is a fun boat.  The second game in the Ognevoi was good also.  I have never liked that ship in the past.  It is now competitive in its tier.  10km torps are decent and on par with US torps at that tier.  It only has two turrets but the guns are again decent.  It is not as fast; however, it is a solid performing dd at that tier.  I did well in it.  I am liking it.  I am now left wondering how well the Kiev will do at tier 8, and I still want to try out the new tier 5 (Forgive me I forget the name).

Yeah. Lenin needs 16 pointer to live up to her potential. (PT, LS, EM, DE, IF/HE, CE or AFT, and then BFT with 17th-19th points...can also make argument for switching the order of DE and BFT)

Minsk seems okay in its tier, but I already have Leningrad and so have no reason to keep it.

hanvt play it yet, but it looks like a mid range dd/cruiser fighter  the shell has very strong punch  it take less time to travel (=higher accuracy i guess)

so get, lock on notification, gun reload, turret traverse speed, hp boost, torp detection boost should be a decent ship

anyway   tier7 always has something not satisfying, thats y  you should get and keep tier 8s as main ship XD

Now that's my problem with Minsk.

I can accept that this is a 43 knot hit-and-run gunboat... but in order to make it works, I need:

PT: 1

LS + EM: 4

DE + BFT: 6

AFT: 4

CE: 4

That's crapload of Dragon flags to invest.

I want to retrain my 15 pt Minsk Captain and put him on the new tier 9 udaloi (which I will grind for Tier 9 Udaloi now since the Tier 8 Ognevoi is a big keeper).

You don't really need CE to be effective in a RU gunboat DD.  In a gunboat DD, you should be shooting your guns most of the time; CE doesn't really do much for you once you start shooting as your gun bloom is quite large.  Besides, one the best things you can do for your team in a speedy, hard-to-hit gunboat DD like the Minsk or Leningrad is tease enemy ships into taking low hit probability shots at you, rather than your easier-to-hit teammates.   Basically, be annnoying, draw aggro.

Leningrad is different because the 8km torps mean she can also potentially sneak around and stealth torp.  This is definitely an advantage because it gives you the flexilbility to be either an annoying ranged gunboat or a sneaky stealth torper, depending on which role your team needs more, but you need both AFT and CE to be able to do both these roles effectively, and even if you do have both these skills you usually can't do both roles simultaneously.

i personaly wouldnt even bother with CE for the minsk i would got with aft and if/he amd bft is really optional at the start of a build as while the guns arent spamlanta fast they still shoot fast enough that with good aim your going to get your damage done and fire is worth more so DE comes out on top. And at that tier your really not looking to knife fight other dds. Range and fires are a RN dds best friends and that really starts to show with the minsk

I have a Leningrad so I didn't keep the Minsk but I played a game in one on my son's account just to try it out and it was a blast. It's easily playable with a twelve point captain.

Minsk is much worse than the old Kiev. It is fast and hard to get hit, but it is hard to hit anything because the slow traverse speed.

Do not like it.

I feel like I am shooting spitballs with the Minsk.  And to get the guns to track a target even at max range while turning, I had to put in main battery mod 2 and take marksman expert.  This was totally not needed for Kiev.  With Kiev, what you were looking at you were shooting at, period (except the rear gun)

I was able to get the Kiev to be fairly effective in ranked, 30k to 50k dmg if I held my range and didn't get ambushed right at the start.

But with Minks.. I do not feel like it can do much ... it can't hardly hit the broad side of a battleship at max range much less a destroyer..

Maybe its me. Maybe I need more practice with it.

But right now, i'm very frustrated.. don;t even want to try Ranked now at all.  I was steadily climbing up.. but .. not even gonna touch it now.
