Wargaming why are you ignoring a portion of your player base? It's been awhile now since the new clans and inventory functions have been added to the game.  They still are not working for Mac users. After multiple threads and tickets you are still ignoring us. Why? Please fix! Also, if any one knows and work around or fix any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Further note that this issue likely will be fixed by an update to the Mac Wrapper, not the game itself.

True. The mac wrapper is a third party thing which was adopted by WG. There's apparently something wrong with the way it uses window data when lifting the information about clans and inventory from the servers, and they have to recode it somehow to cooperate. In other words, give it time. There's lots of finicky stuff that has to be done.

The screen that comes up is an internet browser. It's that browser that macs are flipping out from. These issues pretty much sum up why you don't get a mac for gaming.

Direct link to the clan webpage that can be opened with safari:

http://na.wargaming.net/clans/gateway/wows/search

I don't have a direct link to inventory.

It's not the faults of the Mac, the error messages say they are from Wargaming end...

It's a Mac/PC interaction problem. If a mac tries to send data to a pc using Mac protocols, encryption or whatever while said server can't read it. The server sends up an error saying i can't read this which then leads to further problems as it continues to try to communicate. It's why the wrapper exists. The wrapper isn't made by WG so who knows when it'll actually get changed to support the browsers.

A WG employee recently posted in the support forum looking for Mac players to playtest the new Mac Wrapper, so hopefully we'll see it soon.  My SWAG would be weeks, not months.

From what I can tell, issue is that the browser code WoWs chose to use on the server end is not platform-agnostic, and relies upon browser calls that re unique to Windows.  So the Wrapper will have to be adjusted to translate the communications between a Mac and the server.  No idea why they did this as open source, platform-agnostic browser code is widely available.

We have similar issues with some of the browser-based software we use at my workplace, where the software on the server end uses browser calls that work with Internet Explorer only, even though the functionality isn't particularly complex and if the developers had planned ahead a bit better, the software could have easily been built to communicate with any resasonably current browser (e.g., Firefox, Chrome, Safari).  Kind of defeats the purpose of having a browser-based application, as the primary selling point of this type of software is the ability to run the application on any machine capable of running a web browser, without a lengthy install process or similar shenanigans.

But regardless, sounds like a fix is on the way.  Looking forward to it.

lol at the heart of Mac IOS software is the UNIX / LINUX computer language and it is very powerful and encrypted. Super computers that have to run massive amounts of data and do securely and dependably use computer languages like this, nothing besides PC, phones, and some tablets use the coding from Microsoft....

I have said it in another thread before, but if Wargaming had written WOWs in that coding instead of PC Microsoft things would be a lot smoother for everyone. Wargaming did this with WOT Blitz and Microsoft based devices have been able to connect and I have not heard reports of hacking really like I have heard about in Wargaming's PC based games.

WG products hacked? To my knowledge no one has ever breached their servers. I don't even see how that has anything to do with the whole coding argument and how mac's just aren't the go-to pcs for gaming which leads them to being more or less neglected. I can't think of a single MMO that i have played that didnt have problems with Macs.

Thanks for the info/links. I would definitely be willing to test new Mac wrappers if needed. There are other problems, like graphics being glitchy at times.
