Pet peeve. I find it annoying early in a game when your team is moving toward a Cap undetected, and some yahoo fires their guns into an island... lighting him up on the map and giving away which way the team is moving.

Is it deliberate? Are they trying to ensure that there will be a fight? Do they have friends, or clan mates on the other team they are trying to tip off?

It happens almost every game. Can it really be just some short-attention span bonehead every time? If you are someone that does this please explain.

Sometimes I do this, but only ever if it's the maiden voyage on a ship. I like to get a feel for shell arc/velocity, etc.

I only do this in Co-op however. Taking a brand new ship out in Random is selling your team short.

Considering how often is happens, I doubt if it is a deliberate attempt to give expose the team's position.

Some people just like to go Pew-Pew. :playing:

Most of the time I have seen this happen the shooter was still well out of detection range, so harmless.

Yeah, I've seen more than one tank taken out by arty while hanging around shooting all the train cars on Serene Coast.

Yeah I especially see this leaving spawn on WOT Blitz, not every game and using only if they have really rapid loading tank they might be testing to see how fast it shoots or to get excited about the battle, but they stop after moment. At least in Blitz you could sit there all day firing but unless a scout comes and finds the tank they won't get detected and no team kill in those particular battles so I always just smile thinking well there goes a bit more of their hit ratio since hit ratio is far more highly valued than it could ever possibly be in WOWs.

It's very possible the ship in your battles that fire before enemy is seen does not realize you can see the shell fire in mini map.

For that matter I just had idea that would mainly only be useful in team battles but if you had a 1-2 guys agree to act as decoys and move opposite direct of main attack fire away to draw attention then main force could outflank them and decoys could lay smoke and retreat. Not sure if the decoy idea would work.

I've accidently fired, finger slips and boom.  Sucks because in a BB you have two wait like 30 secs for it to reload.

Of course then there is the guy who forgets he's in all chat instead of team chat and makes a comment about team strategy.

I did the chat slip up just once on accident but covered for it well, I said " Carriers use Toropedoes against carriers" then realizing my mistake I quickly typed in, " Do carrier planes just use Torpedoes or can they use other types of attack?"

As far as the hitting trigger by accident I use a nice heavy mouse I got from my Dad that is actually a special mouse that can be used 50-100 feet away from computer, it's good for presentations like at larger business meetings etc where you need to do things on a screen but don't necessarily want your computer sitting right there or it's plugged into a projector, I have used it while laying comfortably on my couch and having computer desktop screen project and still have control lol.

Bonus to this type of mouse is it's heavy so you know where your hand is on it, it is perfectly proportioned, and the buttons on it are just stiff enough to avoid accidental clicks while at same time easy enough you can instantly fire when you need to.

What you may have to do is get yourself a nice mouse too that will be accidental fire resistant for you as well.

Occasionally you will come across an... individual,  who wants to change the ammo type in their guns. Rather than tapping the desired ammo key twice they will tap it once and fire to force a reload. I used to see this all the time in tanks.

There is usually no need to attribute to malice, that which can be explained as ignorance.

It is possible that they do not realize they can be seen when they fire, but the "Detected!" pop-up warning should be a dead give-away. Plus you can see the red BBs light up on the map when they fire.

I'm pretty sure I have seen light forces heading to an alternate Cap use this as a decoy. That would be the only legitimate reason to do it.

The need to pew-pew must be strong in a sizable portion of our population.

[Redacted]; "I just unlocked my Colorado, how's she?"

[Teammate]; "Don't tell me you're trolling...."

[Redacted]; "This is my first battle."

[Teammate]; "...."

[Me]; "..."

[Teammate]; "Dude...this is ranked

[Me];

Hilarity and reports ensue.

The only way that this can be topped is if someone said, "I bought a Saipan just for ranked, how's she?"

Whats worse is at the end of a battle when impatient people on your own team give away your position in all chat because you aren't following their commands from beyond the grave.  I thought that was what this topic was about lol.

If I fire early on, its with bogatyr in free look mode so i can see all the guns fire in sequence from a side angle shot :) Sometimes when i play farragut I never take my finger off M1 in an effort to get to that 1000 rounds fired game.  932 is my highest.
