Worst excuse you've ever heard from a potato?

Potatoes. We've all had them on our team. We've all seen them do their potato actions.

Occasionally, a potato may try to justify his questionable action. What's the worst excuse or justification you've heard from a potato who did his potato-y action.

My nomination goes to Saturday's Molotov captain who gave the excuse of trying to flush out the enemy DD after solo yoloing into the enemy base right at the beginning of the game.

This thread is kinda pointless. What are you expecting to get out of it? Positive vibes?

Honestly, all excuses from potatoes are equally not worth my attention. If I'm dead, unless it's ranked, I move to another ship. If it's ranked, I will become an armchair admiral to try and point out something an ally may not have noticed

"What are you guys doing over there?" -- refers to low-health group of ships to the side with three kills each.  "Stop camping and cap"...

.. wait..  That's not a potato.  that's a 'Tunnel Warrior'.  These people never look at the minimap until they are dead.

"How come you guys ran away when we could have taken the cap.  I faced everyone alone!  COWARDS !!!"..  no, not a potato.  I call this a 'Klingon Warrior'.

..

Types of Potatoes:

Baked Potato -- Overextends Missouri straight into overwhelming enemy force and can't turn away  -  so hits reverse and slowly burns down under concentrated fire.

Deep Fried Potato -- DD hits Boost at spawn and gets to the cap first, pops smoke, sits in it,  and waits for an enemy radar cruiser or DD to come along.

Ever played football..Guys never give each other a break..Like football wow has some basic tactics that apply that should be common sense and even the game screen list a few while your playing. If you do not follow the very basic tactics be ready to get insulted or you can go play " my little pony" if you cant handle it. Oh and yes the game has balance issues that our plain and simple to see and sometimes it borders on the "come on man really" how does a WW2 DD have a cloaking device I thought that did not come around until I played halo or when the master chief DD line comes out..Its okay wow is really trying to find a balance between ship lines that remain some what realistic, fun and balanced while at the same time fair to all classes of ships. That is no easy task and a work in progress. Dealing with a team who just plain and simple disregards tactics and knowing that the game has balance issues will cause people to get frustrated at times..If you do not see and understand the balance issues in wow then I have a "Nice old ford pinto for you to take to the crash up derby with a full tank of gas". For those who pun on those who complain about the balance issues in wow I would bet most of you have the balance in your favor..To the person who started this thread I do "play for fun" why would I play a game that was not fun that has to be the worst anti-potato pun I know and here is you some french fries cause I could cook your potato any day..hehe..Wait can I be a Idaho potato I like them the best...Finding balance in life and games is the same.Give everyone a level and fair playing field and then may the best man or team win..Its that simple..

My favorites so far:

  • "My planes will just die so I'm not launching them"
  • "I can't advance until all the DDs are deal"
  • "Don't cap, we an kill them all"
  • Continually spamming SOS and to fire at someone while running to the opposite side of the map from the rest of the team.

I've seen some pretty stupid plays over the last couple of years.  It's really only in Ranked Battles that it ever really blew my mind.  Of course, the only excuse that I think are genuinely stupid are those made to justify throwing the match because of some perceive conspiracy theory against them.  "Matchmaker screwed me!", etc.

To be fair to potatoes, though, I've also seen some pretty stupid excuses made by elitists to try and justify being jerks to those less experienced or skilled than themselves.

I take more rage from tunnel warriors than any other type of player out there.  Had a guy tunnel so hard, he actually overlooked that we had capped 2 caps and sunk four ships.  He was was convinced the DD's had camped a single point the entire game.  And we won.

"You should have known I was going to fire torps there."

My ESP was not working that game for whatever reason.

Living in Idaho for the past 12 years, I truly resent threads like this and the shadow of negativity that they cast on the tuber family.  Per Wikipedia, delicious and nutritious potatoes have become an "integral part of much of the world's food supply."  Just remember that they fulfill the same basic function in WoWS and you will start to feel better about inferior players almost immediately.

My personal favorite is when a battleship refuses to get into the fight and responds "I have XX KM range" :teethhappy:

I had a forum poster in a Belfast on one of my teams in ranked that smoked up in the open in a cap with no escape avenue, promptly got torped or popped in their smoke, then spent the rest of the match raging at me because I hadn't rolled in to brawl a Scharn and Gneis in my Nagato to save him.  It was one of those games where the team was in control on points and kills and the enemy had to come to us, but for whatever reason the team decided to be over-aggressive and go brawl and ended up throwing, but I made the mistake of still being alive so it was obviously my fault.

Dear Giantsgiants you are a a*ss ... no respect for your teammates. I don't care what you say you say next. Its people like you who make the community toxic. its as simple as that.

could not of said it better

Another reason why I ignore chat for the most part.  Though I've gotten to trolling a bit, especially if I sink while being down 3 on one or more.  I'll make a comment like 'took you guys long enough to sink me'.  Or evading torps, had two DDs and a CA try and torp me and missed with about 20+ torps, called out in chat, 'nice torps, who were you aiming at?'.  Yes, karma is a [edited], and will probably come back to bit me.

Had an AFK ARP Takao that finally started to move in the last few minutes of the game.  I asked, "Why were you afk for so long?"  I was expecting, my computer crashed, or someone knocked at the door, or something at least reasonable....

"Oh, decided to make a rental payment.  Sorry."

:fishpalm:
