Gnevny 53-38 / Ognevoi 53-38

Hey All, I just noticed this, the upgraded torps on the Gnevny are the 53-38s, which happen to be the Ognevois stock torps.

 

I never bothered with the torp upgrade on the Gnev since it looked like a waste of exp, but, did not notice until today that you get 53-38s when you unlock the Oggie... what gives, why aren't they available on the Gnev now? It sure seems like it would work that same as WoT - unlock a module, they are the same torps on both ships

They changed that in the past where upgrades like that don't get mirrored across different ships. It was mainly a problem with the IJN ships, where cruisers were unlocking better torps on destroyers.

 

That said, the torpedo upgrade on Gnevny adds...one knot of torpedo speed. It's really not at all worth the upgrade in the first place.

I recall that in a Dev Q&A someone asked about those top torps which seemingly doesn't give you significant bonus(like those on Gnevny) why they are there. The answer was most of times they have increased chance of causing flooding which is not displayed in the game UI

So, really, an upgrade on the Gnev that isn't worth the exp... go figure.
