For the second time in probably a day a team member gave away my position in chat to the enemy so they could sink me or try to.  Both times i was playin my gearing and playing to the stealth qualities of the boat, using my torps and STAYING ALIVE! since the games were already lost no since dying like the rest of the lemmings.  I have reported both traitors for misbehavior in chat but what actually is done to these players when they cheat merely because they think i should die fighting uselessly against superior numbers as the counter closes in on 1000.

The Gearing is mainly a gunboat, though her torps are good, too.  If you were trying to stay hidden and just torp, they were probably angry at you for not playing your ship to its full potential and throwing the game.   It doesn't necessarily make what they did right, but it does make it understandable.

EDIT: Also, you don't lose anything additional if you die.  The repair and rearmament cost is the same either way.  Isn't it better to attempt to take some of the enemy with you so you make more money?

Screen shots and a zipped copy of the replay to support. That is against the games rules.

I think that you're excusing the reprehensible actions of those players.  This is EXACTLY why ALL chat should be removed from the game.  I don't give 10 rat's behinds about talking to players on the other team.  If someone cares so damned much about talking to someone on the other team, let them open up a private channel once they get out of battle.  This is battle chat, not a freakin' community center!!!

I'm not excusing it.  I'm saying I can see why they'd be irritated with the OP.  Again, I can understand why they're angry, but it doesn't make their actions right.

Helping the enemy in game by giving away positions is a Banable offense... file a report ticket

It does not matter what their excuse is. Doesn't give them the right to perform a banable offense.

No idea what the rules are, but i sure hope its not a one time bannable offense.  It would be easy to not know you are in all-chat, and actually think you are talking to team-mates.  I think it should be a slap on the wrist offense unless the player has a history of offenses.  Thats why we do tickets.  Otherwise, you end up with a kangaroo court... like this one.

O god no, do you want this to turn into World of Tanks?

I quite enjoy having pleasant conversations with the other team. The banter can be fun, and is one of the positive sides of this game. Plus, I want to say hello to fellow forumites before sinking them. It's good manners. :P

The first time would be a "vacation" followed by longer "vacations" and eventually the gate.

No!!!

If you want to play bots, go play Co-Op. I like having the ability to compliment the enemy team when I screw up and engage in friendly banter. Not having cross chat makes it feel like I'm playing Co-Op, which I find boring.

The most toxic stuff in chat is always from your own team anyway.

Bold added by me. This statement is so true!

Trolls will be trolls. In any free-to-play online game, you're going to find players whose sole purpose in-game is the disruption of another player's game. If you haven't figured that out by now, perhaps you should stick to single-player games.

As the person above me stated, get screenshots of a player relaying intel to the enemy, and submit a support ticket. The ban-hammer will swing, eventually.

Thankyou for the comments.  I submitted a ticket with screenshots and replay.  Don't know that anything will come of it but we shall see.  I can't stand traitors, especially sore loser traitors.  The play coop nonsense, yea thats a comment i expect from trolls and sore losers so leave that for them.

As I understand it, it's treated as a form of team killing, which is exactly what it is.  Normal team killing, i.e. taking a ship with lots of torps and targeting members of your own team on purpose used to be far more common.  New team killing rules and processes have made it drastically more difficult for traditional team killers to function in the new environment, and as such, team killers have taken to finding methods which are less obvious to the system but which still accomplish the same result.  Calling out the locations of friendly forces to the other team is one of these and, as far as I understand it, is treated as such.

I'm going to just assume that you didn't bother reading my entire post, as I can't think of any reason you would reply in this fashion if you did.  Let me quote myself:

Again' date=' I can understand why they're angry, but it doesn't make their actions right.[/quote']

To clarify further:

but it doesn't make their actions right.

^ This, they actually do hand out temp bans for this kind of thing, replay and/or screen shot... and the "sad mad bad" gets some cool off time.

Oh I read it all. But I stand with my response about it. It's like saying "I understand why he killed her, but it was wrong".

Regardless, the person in question had ZERO reason nor any rights to do what they did. The only thing to understand is they screwed up, not the OP. We all have bad days.

No one needs to be berated/abused/etc for it.

If WoT has removed ALL chat from the game, so much the better.  I don't want people talking to people on the other team, no matter the reason.  I want them focusing on winning the battle at hand and nothing else.  You want to talk to someone on the other team?  DO IT AFTER THE BATTLE IN A PRIVATE CHANNEL!!!!

That's your problem, not mine.  Frankly, I'm not interested in chatting with anyone during a battle for any reason other than fighting the enemy more effectively.

...But if I can't talk to the other team, how am I gonna start Marco Polo? :hiding: No really, I've only seen this once where the team narked out their own CV...at the start of the game... Guess he had a problem with CVs?
