However, I am confused as to the significance of this ship. I am not complaining about getting a free ship, but I would like to know the relevance behind it. Was it a former shop premium, what was it's significance irl, ect ect. It just confuses me that we get a Japanese ship for an event about ancient Rome, when a ship from (wait for it) Italy (I said the I word) would have been more appropriate. It would be nice to know...everything has significance. I'm just asking for a bit of history as to what this ship is.

I think it's mostly because people have been clamoring for her since she became a premium, and she's been largely unavailable since then. This might just be WG's way to appeasing the masses. Their version of bread and circuses. (You see that tie in?) Edit: She was also sunk by Iowa, so that might be a significant turn of events. 825 [ARMDA] Unabletony Members 9,004 posts 6,624 battles Report post #7 Posted March 3, 2017 Katori was once the Tier 1 for WoWs. However, they had to remove many of the ship's prominent armament, so she was moved to Tier 3. She and Yubari are the only ones to have a special upgrade that literally makes their guns lasers.

So it's the first confirmed USN freedom dispenser seal clubbing. Tier 3 CL with a Plane. Used to be the Tier 1 in early CBT. Katori was once the Tier 1 for WoWs. However, they had to remove many of the ship's prominent armament, so she was moved to Tier 3. She and Yubari are the only ones to have a special upgrade that literally makes their guns lasers. Thank you, that helps. Was just curious how this really odd-ball ship just popped up out of nowhere. As an average player who spends more time in-game than socializing with the formites and redditors, I have no clue about half of this stuff sometimes. Iwaki also has this upgrade. Any premium IJN cruiser with the 140mm guns.

Huh, never knew that originated from a video. Figured it was just a photoshop job of swapping a Furutaka's turrets for Yubari's (inspired by an early design study). [quote name=Ship project history: The history of creation of Furutaka class cruisers goes back to 1916 when three "scouts" have been included in the program "8-4" (7200t standard displacement, 36kts, 12 140mm guns in single and twin mounts, 610mm TT and 76mm belt). When in Japan it became known about building of Omaha class cruisers in the USA, it has been decided to alter project, and the place of "scouts" in the program was held by "standard" 5500t cruisers. Yubari gets -40% Dispersion module, Iwaki gets the normal -7%. However, considering the Iwaki gets smoke and 10km torps at Tier 4... she can live without the -40% one lmbo Edited March 4, 2017 by Batwingsix

I find it extremely slow moving, turning and easy to be picked off. Sorry, personal opinion is its garbage. Yep, she's slow and lightly armored. No one said she's going to be an easy ship to play, or even the best ship in the game. But, she's a very solid performer with excellent guns, great range, reasonable AA, and useable torps. Not shaking the game up, but hardly garbage.
57 [FAQUE] Tembin Members 523 posts 8,092 battles Report post #21 Posted March 4, 2017 Why does anything have to be significant? Have to admit, I was also curious about this. It's not that the ship HAS to have something significant, but most premiums do have some feature that makes them unique. It's only natural to wonder what attribute makes this ship different and how to make the most of it.

Although, not her historical camo, if Katori had camo at all. Definitely seaplane tender Akitsushima camo that WG has decided to use for Katori.
