I cruised through ranks 12-6 with a 70% win rate. Now I'm stuck at rank 5 with a <50% win rate. I am worth more than my weight which is why I've been able to save a few stars here and there.

This is absolutely ridiculous. Win-loss-win-loss-loss-win-win-loss-loss-loss etc.

AFK players? Check

Yolo players? Check

Dumb DDs? Check

Literally 80% of my losses are due to factors out of my control.

If you can't get rid of LUCKED, at least make rank 5 irrevocable so that I know that I have a safety net and that MM cannot push me back to rank 12 if it chooses to do so.

This is just unbelievable. It's like there is actual code somewhere that purposefully skews your win rate. Just like my Scharnhorst at the beginning of this season had a 35% win rate for 30+ games just so I can advance to from rank 13 to rank 12, before I switch to Flint. Flint got me to rank 5 with a 70% win rate and now again, MM is just absolutely taking a crap on me. Tried my other good tier 7, my Blyskawica, won two then lost two, also due to factors out of my control. I am not taking out my Scharnhorst again because I fear that MM will keep her at a 35% win rate.

or we could make a decent tutorial mode where new players know how to play ships and let the random refine their skills.

How about you only get to rank 1 if you're good enough and if you can't progress past rank 5 you don't get rank 1.

What?

He has a point.  Ranked is too easily-accessible to idiots at the moment.

Translated... translating...

If you're good enough, you don't fall back on a loss. Consistently be the highest scoring player on your team - that is especially needful on a loss - and you'll get there soon enough.

I stopped at 10.0. Facing the road and rewards ahead with no safe harbor seemed, well... crazier.

Just reached Rank 5 (for the second time ) so I sympathize with the OP and would love to have an irrevocable level somewhere around 5 as it would really reduce the stress (admittedly a good stress as this is just about the most enjoyment I've had playing WoWs) .  That being said, the grind is what it is and considering I only made it to Rank 11 last season I do feel like I'm playing with house money at this point.

If teh bads are really that prevalent, they should be roughly evenly distributed between your teams and your enemys'. On top of that, you'll have a roughly even number of matches where the enemy team has more bads compared to the matches where your own team does.

Look at it this way: if all your matches have only players of one skill level, your chances to determine the outcome are even with every other player (i.e., 1/14 = 7%). On the other hand, if there's an average of two bads per team, your odds are much higher (i.e., 1/10 = 10%).

I seriously don't understand how any high-skill player could think that fewer poor players would somehow make them win more often.

Edit in light of latest post: oh. Ohhhh. You think that you're getting special "make Periegrinas lose" matchmaking. I can't argue against that.

Reached Rank 5 on Sunday.  5-6-5-6 this week.  The last battle was just....  Ponderous.

3 BBs, 1 CA, 3 DDs per side.  We got a Belfast, they got Myoko.  Our Belfast proceeds to park next to an island and smoke up.  Never moved, never radared the cap which he was next to and was turning red.  His smoke ran out, still didn't move.  Got nuked.  Not one of our DD's went into a cap, despite us having the only radar ship.  I had to take my Nagato into the cap without smoke to get the damn thing.  Didn't lose a star but haven't played rank since that battle.  Hope some of these just fall back down to 12 to be honest.

There is MM bias against some of us. You are right in that theoretically, "teh bads" should be split 50/50. But that is NOT the case. I get more potatoes on my team than on the enemy team a strong majority of the time. This is statistically impossible and therefore I claim that MM biases losses against us.

Please. Ranked isn't a measure of skill, and only elitists who want to keep being special snowflakes would think it is.

There are already a few people with sub 50% W/R who have ranked out this season.

Ranked is a measure of persistence, that's it.

There's no harm in making it less frustrating.

Of course it's a measure of skill. It's just that making Rank 1 isn't the measure. Making it infewergames is the measure, and generally the less skill you have, the more persistent you have to be. Within the confines of the randomness/luckiness of the teams in any team game, chosen ship class, time of season, etc.

It is NOT a measure of skill. It is just a measure of how many potatoes you get on your team versus the number of potatoes on the enemy team. Pretty much ALL of my losses in rank 5 were because one or two players threw away a lead. And that is beyond my control. Trust me, if I could control other players, I wouldn't be here complaining.

How about you stop spewing nonsense? Because I am more than good enough to get rank 1. I've gotten rank 1 in the past four seasons.

Getting losing streaks (like below) is statistically impossible for someone of my skill and can only be explained by MM bias forcing me to lose games.

gSN6Pyj.jpg

This is ****ing impossible I tell you and I claim that there is MM bias against some people to force them to lose.

ummm, yeah. No it isn't impossible because you've made it possible. Your faith in your abilities is inspiring.  Your arrogance regarding your abilities is pathetic. Your ability to win or lose is dependent on not only your abilities but those of your teammates as well. Your attitude diminishes their contributions to your success. If you bring this into ranked with you it's no wonder you're losing. yes it's possible for you to have a losing streak just as it's possible for you to have a win streak. Maybe you should either go outside and play for awhile or sit back and play a nice relaxing game of pong for awhile. Have some cocoa and put on some pink fuzzy bunny slippers and just let the day fade away............

Here is the key to ranking out this season, follow these steps and you'll find yourself ranked out in no time.

  1. Buy Sims
  2. Play Sims & Rush to Cap
  3. Smoke Team
  4. Bait Belfast Radar
  5. Cap
  6. Put minor damage to random ships
  7. Guarantee top score due to Sims increased base xp.

I hate having to bring this up but I have purple stats. I ranked out in the last four seasons. My faith in my ability is well placed. You can trust me when I say that my losses were out of my control.

WG is not receiving a single cent from me anymore. I will not support their pay-to-win mindset of late.

You're an idiot. I also have no idea how you didn't get banned for admitting intentionally team killing during the halloween event. You don't know what a statistical impossibility is. How about this: a 10 game winning streak AND a 10 losing streak will happen to a 50% player every 1000 battles. That's nothing I lost 6 straight earlier this season. I buckled down and powered through. Even 60% wr player will lose 7 straight once every 600 games.

Did I think MM was fixing it for me when I won 20+ straight games (which has happened twice) of course not. I was playing well and had some luck. In reality good days and bad days make such streaks even more common. MM isn't fixing it you dolt, why would it? Do you have any idea how much effort that would be on WG's part? Stop being a paranoid dolt who thinks that every failing is conspiracy in their solipsistic world. Long streaks are a lot more common then you think.

Some battles your team will potato, but it absolutely is a measure of skill. If you are 50% that means you aren't doing more than the average member of your team. It's that simple.

Ah, what we have here, is that extremely rare creature known as "Mr Perfect". They never make a mistake, they never have an "off" day, they are always perfect. Therefore, if something does go wrong, it has to be and I mean HAS TO BE! everyone elses fault
