Statistics going into the final moments:

Im at rank 6, so players were ranked accordingly

1 on 1 - Me in a BB and the enemy in a DD

They are ahead by 15

The nose of my ship rolls into their cap as their cap point talley sits at 999 and ours is about 985.

Ours rolls up to reach 1000 and we win.

The win was as much luck and the fact that their last remaining players mismanaged the game, but I'll take it.  The game played out like this:

Map:  New Dawn

We started on the A cap side

Game was pretty even and then things got wild as ships started to weaken and die.  This happened on both sides, so the game was still pretty even.  Since I was in a Scharnhorst, I love a close contact game and their BBs were pushing as soon as both our DDs went down.  An enemy DD popped out behind us, and the Fiji I had with me turned to take care of him.  An enemy BB coming up through the middle was coming into 6km range behind an island, so get torps ready.  I let them go and it forced the enemy Scharnhorst to turn into our zone area.  I plugged him a few times, plus turned to ready my other side torps and to avoid the DD torps.  I put their BB down and I also heard "close quarters expert" and it showed my secondaries got the DD as well.  They had a BB, cruiser(Belfast), DD left and we had a BB, and 2 crusiers.  Then boom, the Fuji close to me goes down, probably to the 2nd BB in the center that was quite close.  I check the area and notice our other crusier is 1/2 health and half way across the map to the west of the map.  This was fine given that their team had mostly headed east at the beginning.  The enemy BB with 1/2 health was headed that way now and I couldn't get a bead on him due to an island.  Boom, down goes our cruiser.  Now its 3 on 1.  I catch their BB coming around the island that had been between us and took a big chunk of health and then prepared to turn once he let his volley go.  Exit torps and pull away to allow my rear guns to keep a good broadside.  He slows to a stop to avoid torps but I get another broadside and he goes down.  I roll back towards our cap and spot the Belfast coming through the center.  Fire guns...citadel...but he lives and is running now.  I catch him again as he diagonals away, but only do a few k of damage due to having to fire around an island.   He has to turn back to me a bit to avoid an island.  His misfortune.  Boom, he's gone.  Now we have he lead by 10pts.  I just have to wait for the DD to arrive at our cap.  I turn back into our cap and sure enough, detected.  I then see him for a brief second and fire a shot.  Got a hit, but not enough damage to kill.  He smokes at the edge of our A cap near an island and our cap counter is stopped.  All of a sudden, they have the lead by 15 points.  I had already turned my ship towards the smoke, because I knew what was happening.  He had already fired his torps.  I rolled into the smoke and  the cap counter started again, so he was gone.  I pushed through because my only recourse was to either kill him or get to their cap.  As I roll through the middle of the map torps come and I avoid.  I catch sight as he was just rounding the corner of the island.  I shoot and my secondaries open up.  He takes off to the southwest of the map directly away from me.  That is where he lost the game.  I kept shooting but turned towards their cap.  The DD went out of sight.  I didn't think I would make it, but I rolled into their cap with it showing 999 and it stopped there.  Ours rolled up to 1000 and we won.   If the DD had turned right and headed behind the island and towards our cap, I couldn't have caught him and even if I had reached their cap, he would have stopped ours.  They would have won the game.

Sometimes you just have to get a bit of luck and hope the stress of the situation causes mistakes to be made by the other team.  Either way, I'll take it.

Sometimes comes down to a little luck.   Coming to end of game my team behind on points,  I in lower health Belfast, low health Nagato broadside to me, running towards him, bow on.  Fire what I thought was enough to kill him, he is taken down to 20 hit points, not dead, before I can hit him again, he hits heal, keeps enough hp to stay just alive with 3 more salvos from me, he finally fires a salvo that strips out my remaining hp.  Lost but for 20 hp...

Been in 2 draws.  One was equal points, the other the last two ships floating kill shot each other at the same time.  THAT'S close.

Close games like that is what I love about WoWS especially in PvP or Ranked. I always hate the lopsided wins/losses although I accept them as just part of the game but the close games where the team is cheering or offering advice is just loads of fun. If the enemy team is a gracious winner/loser it makes it so much better as well. I truly love close games, I wish they were more frequent.
