This match is baffling me.

It was a very strong personal performance. But the match was extremely close the whole way, and I cannot really figure out the nuances of how we won, outside of "We held more flags". Or why were we able to hold more flags. The matchmaking monitor on WoWs replays shows the enemy team to be considerably stronger. in CV, BB, CA/L, but not DD's.

I call out B and C early in the game. Most of the team deploy's there, expect for a Tirpitz and a Hipper that straggle, and die for it. Leaving us two ships down from the get go.

We deploy to B and C very dominantly, even with the ship disadvantage, pinning 2 t10 cruisers, a Tipitz and their CV south of B/C, while the rest of their team try to push A, thus getting cut off from supporting each other.

At this time I am basically farming damage trying to keep the cruisers south of b and out of the fight. I kill the DM and the Hindenburg, our CV kills their's. I move back north, providing some smoke cover for our team.

When it looks like I tried to launch torps at the Mogami at 10 minutes, I was not actually launching at him, I was predicting the Yamato to come around the corner. I follow it up with another rack in fairly short order. Providing more smoke for my team in the mean time.

Between the two torps hits, my flood and fire on him, and focus from the team, he goes down in short order. Fast forwarding, We kill the DD trying to cap, and kill a Tirpitz moving in. For the first time we have the ship lead, although not a strong one, our top tier BB's are in terrible shape. I provide another smoke cloud to protect them, and try to provide spotting for the team as the game ends uneventfully on points.

I know the overall reason that we won... "We held more flags for longer" Forcing them to take a disadvantageous initiative.

But I am struggling to figure out the details on it, what I did right, what my team did right. Why it was so close and what I could have done to make the victory more decisive.

Don't get me wrong, these close, hard fought games are the most fun, even if I do lose. I am just trying to learn.

Replay page with the end game screens.

Edit... I know my aim kind of sucks, lol. I am way to crazy with the reticule. And I do a lot of shooting when I know I can't make the shots.

You helped carry that team. You selfless usage of smoke was commendable. I couldn't see but did you tell those guys in chat that you were smoking them?

My only suggestions are: Use your torpedoes earlier. Your instincts for where to send them are EXCELLENT. Work on that long range aim (watch some flamu, his aim is godlike). Communicate more. F3, ping map, quick chat messages.

Thanks for the feedback Cappy.

I try to communicate my intentions with my team as much as I can, but, my typing skills leave a little bit to be desired and I can be overwhelmed trying to fight and type at the same time.

Torpedoes are kind of interesting for me. Some rounds I am on point with my predictions of other players actions and they do exactly as I think they will, allowing me 4 or more torp hits. Yet, other times I can go for three or four games, launching 50 or 60 torps a round without a single hit.

Aiming with guns is something I am always working on. Having an extensive background in first person shooters, the aiming in this game sometimes does not make sense to me. I was thinking about picking up one of the more detailed cross hairs, but they are too cluttered on the screen for me. I have a really hard time estimating lead on a target that is sailing at really any kind of angle. What the shells do for some reason is not what I expect with where I am aiming, even with almost 3k games in.

Take this snippet for example, I placed a couple of lines for reference. The red line is the path the ship was taking. The yellow line and circle are where the shells were hitting and the green line and circle is where I expected them to hit. With the feedback my crosshair was giving me, I was completely expecting the rounds to miss clean behind him.
