A funny moment on Molotov

Had an interesting moment on Molotov.  "Land of Fire" map, NW spawn.  We had no DDs out our way so I decided to gamble and head towards Cap A ahead of some of our heavier ships.  Eventually we detect a BB, Cruisers SE of Cap A.  I use the edge of the island of Cap A to mask LOS but still lob shells at the BB.  I was doing this for a short bit and didn't notice I was detected until I took a shell hit.

 

I was so absorbed on the BB off in the distance that I didn't notice a BB very close to me.  Look at my speed, throttle setting, position relative to that BB SW of me.  Fortunately for me I don't think the BB anticipated me being in there because the hit was only a secondary hit.  I go back into normal view and I see this:
 

 

 

Amagi in a handful of km away from me and I was at a complete stop.  The good news was that she was distracted by the friendly Bismarck in F3.  This gave me precious time to get moving and go into attack.  If I'm going to sink it's going to be glorious.

The Amagi tried to get in close so torps couldn't arm but I ensured to get it off early, still close but helped bag him.

 

 

After this I use long range gunfire to support in keeping B secure, then I sail N of Cap A to help a friendly DD in ambushing and sinking a Blyskawica.  After that, I round to go NE and help against the last group of enemy ships NE of Cap B.  Our ships S of Cap B continue SE and sail north to secure Cap C, pinning the last ships between me, a DD, and the BBs in the SE.  Again, if Amagi wasn't distracted by Bismarck so that she was looking SE instead of N or NE, I'd have been dead.

He should be ashamed of himself.  Anyone who lets a Soviet cruiser get torpedo hits, at any tier, needs to re-evaluate whether they're ready to play that ship.  Especially when the other ship is two tiers lower.

I agree.  No one has ever been hit by Soviet torps that didn't thoroughly deserve it.

To be fair, he was focused on Bismarck.  But then of course there comes the tactical horror of rounding an island and your Main Battery not even pointed towards possible threats.  Especially a cap in enemy hands

​I would agree with that RE: the Russian CL torps from T5-T8, and Russian DD torps from T3-T8, because they are just 4km torps.  That is really short range( especially for the DD's ).

 

T4 Svietlana however has 5km torps and that is actually useable range. It is pretty much the same as the US T4/T5 CL's( 5.5km ). T9 Russian CL D. Donskoi has 8km torps which is a decent torp range as does the T9 DD. T10DD has 10km torps..

 

So it isn't an embarrassment to get torp'd by all Russian CL/DD. LOL.

Don't forget Murmansk & M.K. have the 8km torps also.

Haha I love people who don't know about the torps. I once had a full health Texas charge a smoke that I was in set by a friendly DD. Waited for him to get in range and BOOM all four torps hit. He had like 5-6K HP left and I had AP loaded and dumped it on his citadel...BLOOP...I was hoping for devastating Strike but I didn't get it :/
