There are reasons, its detection range is not the best, but is within the range of all other ships save for the sims (barely) and the Shiratsyu (by a wide margin but that ship is ungoldy stealthy at its tier). The turrent traverse is something to be desired, but the ship is a beast. It has a ton of HP when you captain skin into it 19950. Which is anywhere between 30% to almost 50% more than the next dd. Where I put this ship? As a DD fighter, this thing goes into smoke and burns enemy ships out of it. Sonar has helped me take out numerous DD's and even a belfast or two. (when used wisely). I put my new modules for the 50% turbo seed (a fantastic module) and the 20% sonar time (which has worked out nicely I think cause I use it a lot.) This ship I think is a support ship. She spends a lot of time spotting for the team cause her smoke is good for only one thing, a get away, or to get up to enemy smoke and sonar into it and smoke/gun without being spotted, or as a last ditch "here you go" smoke. Since your smoke sucks its almost always up, and I saved a few friendly ships by popping them my smoke. Lasts 65 seconds but sometimes that is all you need. For gun use I noticed, broadside at long range? HE, Medium HE/AP on bigger ships, and HE on DD's. Short range, AP. I've gotten 3k hits per salvo on BB's, CA's, and DD's. When the ship becomes more angled, go with HE. I had fun this rank, and I had a bit more luck this season than last, (completed it 180 games sooner than last and by two weeks.). A helpful thing though about the Maass and her torps. her torps are the exact range of the radar, which is good and bad. Bad cause you have to be in radar range to torp, good cause you always know exactly where a ship has to be to radar you. It gives you a nice 'danger radar zone' to pay attention to. I'm not the expert unicom, and I had a LOT of frustrating moments, especially today as I got very close to ranking out 3 times, and third time was the charm. But that is my two cents on it.

I know its possible but its a bit frustrating when you see all these people rank out and I have better stats in some cases. Sitting at 6.2 right now, so that's 22 more wins (I think, cant check at work). Doesn't sound like a lot but I can certainly have streaks where I win 2 of 8, so the number of games needed could be double or triple the actual wins needed.
