Mirror MM makes CV W/R a zero sum game.

 

Extremely low USN CV W/R does not necessarily indicate that USN CVs are bad, merely that there's a massive gap between them and their IJN counterparts.

 

Looking at the pother available stats, USN CVs are only really bad at T5-6. All other USN CVs are more or less balanced vs the non-CVs.

 

The ACTUAL problem is that IJN CVs are just beyond broken right now, and that blatant OPness keeps USN W/R down

Historically speaking, "CV rework" must translate to "нерф". IIRC, 2016 brought some 6 successive CV nerfs, or nerf-like changes with the AA power creep. The only numbers that went positive for USN CVs were their fighter ammo, which effects me very little because I prefer running strike anyway.

 

I don't think they'll be looking at CVs to any significance for quite awhile, maybe until they see their glorious Stalinium floatplanes scratched up from the forests of AA. With the VMF DDs, and the crowd-backed RN lines to come, it's safe to say they have more than enough reason to procrastinate.

Fondest memory of my Ranger days is 3/0/1 Saipan nubs that stacked all three fighter groups on each other to get wiped out by one solid strafe. If they consistently had competent captains, I'd prefer running headlong into a Hiyru any day of the week.

You have a balanced package, at least at high tiers: The stock loadout.

 

You can be good at a speciality, or be a meh jack of all trades. Exactly what your choices should be.

 

USN needs to stay where it is, IJN needs to be nerfed down to that level.

There is, Standard Spec but that is a bad thing for USN CVs as you typically field 1/1/1.  Try that in the face of Hiryu, Shokaku, Ryujo and you get crushed, overwhelmed.  Standard Spec works for Midway because that spec still has as many units in the air as its AS or Strike Specs.  It actually looks the most attractive, most balanced spec of all USN CVs outside Saipan.  But under Tier X, a Standard Spec USN CV can get overwhelmed and be lacking in attack power.

Issm is correct, IJN CV have the best of both worlds and USN must chose. This is often defended as national flavor but IJN dedicated load outs are also just as good if not better. USN simply cannot be better in one thing. Even tho that is how they where designed.

Er, no. There's really not a single definitive action that can be taken in order to make everything better. Hence why they're talking about a total rework, and not a single series of nerfs or buffs.
