certain camo colors like pink and orange or those weird combinations should provide a negative camo bonus, like increasing detectability

because it makes no sense that a pink camo or bright orange camo would decrease detectibility!!!!!

You'd think so, right? Actually, those camos functions much the same way as someone...expelling their last meal through the way it came. It makes it so that nobody wants to look at the ship, and will look in any other direction in order to avoid it crossing their line of sight—rendering it a surprisingly effective camouflage pattern.

This. Why would anyone want to look at a pink ship? Pink = TK in this game.

In a half-serious line of thought, perhaps they should also increase enemy's dispersion (see Dazzle camo).

"Ugh, that pink camo is revolting, I can't aim properly!"

Actually, the camo could blind anyone looking at them even through sights. The reduction in camo rating is simply the guy in the crow's nest having to look away.

Camo on ships wasn't supposed to hide them in the first place... Save for the one or two ships that turned into giant bushes and were parked beside an island.

I think it was a Minekaze that had a strange Red/Green/White camo. I assume it was some kind of Christmas camo as he was kind enough to gift me some shells! :P

Add more exclamation marks, it's sure to make your argument even stronger.

Dazzle camo was meant it make it harder for the enemy to exactly determine a ship's heading and speed. Other types of camo tried to "fool" enemies in other ways. Some ships were painted with fake "wakes" that were intended to make the ship appear to be traveling full speed even when standing still. Others, like that of the Tirpitz, were designed to make a large ship appear smaller than it actually was. Some captains, especially raiders, added hardware to make their ships appear to be other types of ships. Once radar was perfected, camo pretty much went by the wayside except for troop deployment or riverine patrol craft.

I'm with you, OP!  I really do not enjoy looking at some of the camo in the game...and no, I'm not just talking ARP.  The bright reds, yellows and oranges are hideous. Add Ocean Soul in that group, too...blecch!  I'll use them for the bonuses...and I can't really see my own camo that much.  I do enjoy blowing up any ship wearing a Halloween or Christmas camo, though.

Not sure if a thinly veiled "I hate ARP Ships" thread or not....

Nope - its not.  They don't like the Halloween, Valentines Day etc...  camos.
