You'd think so, right? Actually, those camos functions much the same way as someone...expelling their last meal through the way it came. It makes it so that nobody wants to look at the ship, and will look in any other direction in order to avoid it crossing their line of sight—rendering it a surprisingly effective camouflage pattern. This. Why would anyone want to look at a pink ship? Pink = TK in this game.

The reduction in camo rating is simply the guy in the crow's nest having to look away.

Save for the one or two ships that turned into giant bushes and were parked beside an island.

12,714 [PSP] Snargfargle [PSP] Members 19,325 posts Report post #19 Posted February 20, 2017 Dazzle camo was meant it make it harder for the enemy to exactly determine a ship's heading and speed. Other types of camo tried to "fool" enemies in other ways. Some ships were painted with fake "wakes" that were intended to make the ship appear to be traveling full speed even when standing still. Others, like that of the Tirpitz, were designed to make a large ship appear smaller than it actually was. Some captains, especially raiders, added hardware to make their ships appear to be other types of ships. Once radar was perfected, camo pretty much went by the wayside except for troop deployment or riverine patrol craft.

I really do not enjoy looking at some of the camo in the game...and no, I'm not just talking ARP. The bright reds, yellows and oranges are hideous. Add Ocean Soul in that group, too...blecch! I'll use them for the bonuses...and I can't really see my own camo that much. I do enjoy blowing up any ship wearing a Halloween or Christmas camo, though.
