1. I just detonated a almost full-health Gneisenau in ranked with Myoko torps. He would have been torped dead anyways if he didn't get detonated.

 

2. I have enough exp on my  ARP Myokos to research all the modules of the standard Myoko up to the Mogami. (155,400 exp to research all modules + Mogami, 155,485 exp on all ARP Myoko ships)

Mogami will be a let-down after playing the very strong Myoko.

 

But the ship is probably no so strong that it needs a nerf.

It's funny that the OP here is calling for a Myoko nerf while the those playing ranked lambast it for being so weak.

Don't any of you watch the hints that pop up while waiting for a game? One of them says that a detonation may occur if a ship receives a torpedo hit at the base of a turret.

When played well, that ship's a monster. I think I have something like a 2000+ WTR in my Nachi? Glad to hear you've been enjoying yours!

It's funny that the OP here is calling for a Myoko nerf while the those playing ranked lambast to for being so weak.

 

The problem is that it's so, so easy to misplay the Myoko.

She's also a ship better suited for randoms.  She excels when she's second line, or when she gets the drop on targets.  In ranked it's much harder to put her advantages to use, while poor her turret traverse comes into play much more frequently.

You must be the one myoko player who doesn't have a severe case of broadside-itis.  I swear, myokos are always broadside.  Always.

IIRC the turning speed and radius works out to more than 30 seconds to do a 180. This means you can't turn to escape a BB without taking citadels. That was my only gripe about the ship.

The few times I've been detonated in a BB was by a torpedo hitting the base of one of my turrets. I still remember the very last time very clearly. I'm in ranked with my Bismarck, and I see a torp wall incoming. I cut engines and push rudder to max deflection. I saw myself avoiding all but one and I thought that that was more than acceptable. It slams into the base of my number 2 turret and I detonate from full health. Yes it made me salty. But I sure as hell cringe every single time now when I'm about to take a torpedo hit under a turret :panic_fish:

Easy fix... If-HE (HEAP) + 155s. The Mogami's DPM goes threw the roof, and you dont really lose the fires cause your fire chance is wasted once you've saturated the target with fires anyways. Add to that the sick concealment and potent torps.... I liked the Myoko, but the Mogami is a pretty major step up.

You see, but the blokes in ranked see an ARP or dragon ship, and automatically think it's a potato bringing out their only T7. Then, you wait. Let them underestimate you. And when you're still floating at the end of the match, a full clutch of medals won and damage dealt with the sinking hulls of your enemies, you can laugh as they wonder—"Why didn't we sink this guy sooner?"

(It'll be because the poor girl in her Nagato was thinking that the three Fiji's on the opposite side of her were the bigger threats. They weren't. Fire damage—fml. Never underestimate a Myoko.)

Ehh I don't think the Myoko is a suitable ship for ranked. With the bad firing angles, slow turret traverse, and a large turning circle, it's pretty hard trying to dish out meaningful damage without getting nuked by a BB. IJN CAs need a lot of room to maneuver and kite around, so I think they're more geared towards Random Battles and not the static and campy battles of Ranked.

If there's one ship i absolutely don't fear in ranked it's a Myoko. Fires? Sorry, I'm more worried about that Belfast over there. Torps? You gotta get in my "i don't miss" range for you to drop them on me. Trying to kite away? Scharnhorst has frickin laser beam shells for a BB.

 

Yeah, Myoko is not feared at all.

Either that or they are off in the distance trying to do Random HE spam and failing the rest of the team.  I have seen a few Myokos played VERY well in Ranked.  The key word there is "few".  Most shouldn't be playing Ranked at all.  A great player can bring a Kiev and do well in Ranked, but that doesn't mean she's a good choice of DD.
