3,999 [V_KNG] Herr_Reitz Beta Testers 13,205 posts Report post #1 Posted February 20, 2017 FWIW - like it or not - some of the most acidic, nasty and just outrageously nasty chat I've seen in the past couple weeks is spewing forth from the keyboards of people with a clan tag in front of their player name. As if having that clan tag somehow makes them better than everyone else so they don't have to stick with the rules like everyone who doesn't have the tag. Just tonight... me and a BB were pushing a point, getting the crap pounded out of us by the red air. In chat I say, "we need some air cover over here." What do i get back from the "carrier god"? "ST&U... play your own d*mn ship". All I did was ask for some air cover. Nothing more. Nothing less. Carrier could have replied "ok -busy now". But nay, nay... courtesy is a foreign language. Later in the game... two ships were coming after him. It just so happened I was in the area pursuing the reds. I delayed them, took some of their health, stopped their pursuit of the carrier. Another BB came by and assisted. As the carrier runs away from me and the reds I'm fighting, he chats "See I told you to ST&U up and play your own d*mn ship". He said this because we were going to win; he had three kills. If I was not a team player I'd never intercepted those ships, he'd been blown out of the water and we'd still have won. So - fwiw - the toxicity I'm seeing in games, from players with clan tags, well... I can't help it guys. It is there. And it is - my local view - increasing in frequency. And this was just a random game. OTOH - I've had some superb assistance from many a clan member and regular player too. Those guys - well, thank you! If it weren't for your good attitudes, this game would totally hug. Wouldn't be worth playing to be honest.

It could also be that people are more on edge in-game with ranked season going on. I've generally had good experiances lately though. Somehow. 57 [FAQUE] Tembin Members 523 posts 8,092 battles Report post #6 Posted February 20, 2017 (edited) I kind of like having a clan tag. There is probably some large psychology term which explains this, but I don't know the word. It's just that it feels good to be part of a team. Also, clan members are usually willing to division up, so it has allowed me to play in a lot more divisions lately. In every game I play, I always play support or heals. The reason? It's because these classes have no problem finding teams and are usually very welcome to join up in teams, and I enjoy playing games for the social aspect and team play. Anyway, to each there own. I know that the things that motivate me might not be motivators for other people. Edited February 20, 2017 by Tembin

Unfortunately there are a few clans or at least some of their members that do think they are god's gift to gaming just because of the clan tag. Fortunately most of those clans/members are still in WoT. Best thing to do when you come across one is to screen shot it and forward it to the clan leadership and let them deal with it. 4,173 Pope_Shizzle Members 3,229 posts 7,820 battles Report post #8 Posted February 20, 2017 The other side of that equation is that as clans and the general quality of their playerbase becomes more widely known, people with tags are going to be singled out and focused harder. Given that there is zero advantage to actually belonging to a clan, I've often considered dropping my tags and remaining independent.

"rabble rabble rude crap." Was closest to me when a DD came up his rear, kept stealth and went on my merry way.... I won't help a donkey.. let alone a major donkeyhole for asking a legit question and getting told to fluff off... what comes around goes around...

There are also a couple clans that think having three letters next to their names give them reasons to trash other players. The fact is that almost all these people have been around for a while and until recently just didn't have clan tags.

3,999 [V_KNG] Herr_Reitz Beta Testers 13,205 posts Report post #19 Posted February 20, 2017 Hmm... so I suppose I can see this as a benefit then, right? As will others... in that clans that are toxic will have toxic players so the clan will be known to be toxic which... in the end... can only end up badly for them. Just never expected to be told to ST&U for asking for air cover. :-) Ah well... Thanks guys - appreciate the feedback... 'cause as long as I can remember I've been more of the "lone wolf" category. PS: Good Luck finding/killing the Corgi fleet. I've now seen two in about 12 hours of appropriate tier game play - and both times they were on my team. 3,882 [WTFS] TheKrimzonDemon Members 9,336 posts 13,771 battles Report post #21 Posted February 20, 2017 There's a clan I see in co-op a lot that's as salty, arrogant, and a**hatted as I've seen. Constantly screaming at everyone, literally from the second they get there, even before the battle starts. It's so bad that I instantly mute any member I see, so I don't have to deal with their behavior. Anyone who plays co-op a lot has most likely seen them, and no-one that I personally know has anything good to say about them.
