How do i redistribute skill points on my captain?

i want to redistribute skill points on my Mahan 12 point captain because i chose the wrong skills for the build i wanted.

Have to spend doubloons to respec

Click the redistribute button in the captain skill window:

 

 

This costs doubloons. The more skill points you have assigned, the more doubloons it costs, up to a maximum of 475 as in this example.

Most use doubloons to respec a captain, but if you have elite captain experience, you can use that. You get elite captain experience for captains that have maxed out at 19 skill points and any other xp they earn is elite captain xp.
