Radar should come into consideration with MM

I'm tired of playing ranked and having 2 radar cruisers on one team, and none on the other.  This gives a very unfair advantage to the team with radar.

Please fix

Radar is not an "I win" button.  It doesn't even do that much to even the playing field: German hydro, and especially when it's mounted on a German BB, is far more game-breaking.

For Ranked, I think it would be a decent idea since the whole idea is competition based on skill and not luck with the matchmaker - the meta in Ranked is oriented enough around smoke and concealment that radar's usefulness and effects go up drastically.  But in Randoms?  Hardly necessary.

Especially when a lot of captains don't know how to use radar properly.

I was in a match earlier today in my Perth, it was Epicenter on Trident  There is an Ognevoi lurking around in the center cap defending it.  The enemy had some BB's left in range of the cap circle.  The Ognevoi was doing a good job of using his smokes to keep me from detecting him and deleting him.  I begged the Atlanta on our team to come and radar the guy so we could kill him and cap.  Nothing. That clown wouldn't come close to the cap circle.  Finally, our team got an advantage in ships and I went for his smoke circle, popped smoke and started creeping on him with hydro running.  When he got detected he rushed me and killed me with torps.  He thought he was slick until my torps deleted him as well.  (He gave me a snarky "Hi" in chat, then my torps hit and he told me to F off)

The fact is though, I should not have had to trade my cruiser for a well played DD when the team had the tools to hunt him, but the player in question was too incompetent to know how critical in the game it was to remove that last DD and cap.

I did specify ranked.

I know it's not an I win button, but it does become easier when a team has 2, and the other team none.

Radar in Ranked OP? Nah. I was in a DD with a Pensacola and Yorck (yes, you  read it right) against a Belfast and an Atlanta. Guess who won?

I was in a DD with an Atlanta against two Belfasts. Guess who won? Way OP.

No, because radar means nothing compared to skill. I have hydro-acoustic search on some of my ships yet I still have issues figuring out when to drop it. However, I am getting better at telling when. The same, I would assume, goes for radar, torpedo reload, speed boost, smoke screen, Defensive fire, catapult fighters, spotting fighters, repair, any every other consumable out there.

They balance CV's and they should balance radar.  Especially in ranked.  I've been in so many matches with 2 radar on one team and none on the other.  I thought it was poor sport every time,   even when I was on the team with the advantage.    It's just too powerful a tool on certain maps and in certain situations for MM to deal a lopsided deck.

Radar won't suddenly make bad players good. They'll still be bad, only they'll be able to see you for about twenty seconds.

But with a decent team, 20 seconds is all they need to kill a destroyer, a light cruiser or two

This.

Is.

So.

Misinformed.

Only 9% of total games played in a DD? 54% in a BB? Your highest tier DD is a T7 premium? So how did you come to that scientific conclusion if not from your extensive experience? Yes. Radar combined with smoke hugging an island is an "I win button". There is no counter. Any DD will be focus fired and deleted before it can even turn 180 degrees and pop smoke.

You downplay the subject because it barely effects you as a mostly dedicated battleship player. The Belfast and radar alone have absolutely high-jacked ranked battles this season. Now the victory goes to the team that has the most radar.

Watch Notsers take on the subject. He makes a great point. No ship should have smoke and radar simultaneously.

But with a decent team, 20 seconds is all they need to kill a destroyer, a light cruiser or two

Very true.

Ok, so I was just in a game with the following teams:

Mine: Nagato, Scharn, Fiji x3, Blys, Sims

Red team: Nagato, Colorado, Belfast x3, Shiratsuyu and Blys.

Map: Faultine

Rank level: 3-5

I'm sorry but this matchup was total [edited]. There was literally nothing we could do, our DDs tried to take the "off cap" but there was a bel and a DD there, the rest was on the other side. DDs died middle was theirs, we could not get any sighting in the middle, we got a few licks in, but an easy win for the red team. I realize that player skill is greater than radar, but when player skill is roughly the same, its no contest. Even if they had hung back they still would not have been able to successfully spot.

I think it should be taken into account. It's not an I win button but when it's unbalanced it makes it very tough to play objectives.
