Not sure if this has been posted already, but I've always wondered why there's only a captain on each of our ships. In WOT, there's a driver, gunner, etc. I think t would be interesting and helpful to have a Captain, Chief Engineer, Torpedo Officer (where applicable), Gunnery Officer/Gunner, Commander Air Group (C.A.G., where applicable), each with their own researchable skill sets. What do you all think?.

YES.....anything that adds depth to this game would be greatly appreciated by me.

No, because it increases complexity without any worthwhile benefit.

I say yes with this premise:

1. They are stuck to my captain and can not be removed or added.

2. They gain skills that buff parts of my ship.

3. They earn XP at the same rate as my captain.

4. They can't be knocked out in battle.

5. No WoT style micro-management of them.

6. Every ship has access to every officer. If they sit around and do nothing so be it.

Otherwise I don't want this. Tanks was irritating enough juggling crew on premiums that I have no desire to do that here. If I have to worry about more than my captain for "Crew", then I'm done. No one wants micro-management in this game because there are other games with enough of it as it is.

My reasoning is this. I've been playing since CBT, but not very seriously, 2 or 3 timers a week for an hour or two, somewhat average in skill. My interest in this game comes from a historical perspective; I've been fascinated by naval history all my life, and have been researching just for [edited]and giggles for 25 years.

In game, when I'm on a torp run, my main guns are silent. I would like to be able to momentarily hand off control of my main guns to a notional subordinate officer while I concentrate on firing torps, or vice versa. Same goes for AA. or navigation. Maybe I'm just not as skilled as others, but sometimes there's just too goddamned much going on.

The commander skill reflects on the skills of the entire crew. If there were multiple crew positions, each with their own skills, the overall enhancements would not be greater. The only benefit, and only to the player, would be that you could move skilled individuals without suffering an overall retraining penalty. However the reprogramming and testing necessary to do this wouldn't be worth it for the developers.

This has been brought up many times and the consensus is that would not add anything to the game. There are issues with WoT's crew system but it is now entrenched and changes are unlikely. Warships have hundreds to several thousand crew so the captain training here represents what he has his crew focus their training on.

One the one hand it can be an interesting addition, adding more variety to the gameplay.

But on the other, people are already failing at organizing flags, camo and a captain.

They considered this at one point, but opted to just a captain for the sake of simplicty, like how WoWp had 1-2 max and WoT is looking to go to basically just a commander and random crew assigned (but have to figure out dealing with all the crew people have especially hard earned female crew and ones like Fury).

While it might be neat, this:

Yeah no. Just means more grinding for no reason.

Not only more grinding, but more grinding that can be monetized. Plz no.

I agree with you 100% we need a crew ...

We need a Radioman that serves no purpose except allowing us to access our friends list. He will take up a vital slot more suitable for Engineers but without it you can't use your chat function. After you raise his level enough he can help you start a clan and participate in team battles.
