Please note this isn't about running aground. This is in regards to the arc of shells over land. As everyone knows, when a shell hits land, it just fizzles out. However, I've noticed for sometime that some shots that seem to clear a landmass instead explode on thin air.

Now, I admit that I am using a low-tech PC, so I grumble, but take results with a grain of salt. Until the other day.

In one match on... Two Brothers, I believe, I was sailing down the slot in my North Carolina (as you do (it was later in game so there wasn't any opposition so shush)), when I spy a Lo Yang. Recognizing the threat, as soon as I get my guns on him, I open fire.

However, between me and him is some low shoreline, slightly hilly. And clear above this hill line my shots would have melted the Lo Yang in seconds.

Except they didn't. They exploded in midair, as if the terrain was in the way.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is this just me sailing a potato? I mean, the DD was clearly visible, and my shell arcs were negligible at that spitting distance- I don't know. We won, but I felt greatly cheated.

That's just how it is.  I see shots that look like they should go over some ridge but explode over it.  Oh well.  The game is usually more decent about it as I still do get a number of shells buzzing the ridge and getting to the target area.  There are even spots where you look like you may get shells through interesting terrain features and the game actually allows it.

The hitboxes are a bit weird in places, similarly, AFAIK you can shoot through some smaller buildings while your shells will collide against other, larger ones.
