One might have expected there to be a linear relationship between range and dispersion, but assuming that Max Dispersion relates to Max Range, this appears not to be so.

Using Colorado as an example.....

  Range (Km) Dispersion (m)
Max.with Mk7 Mod.1 GFCS 17.6 236
Max.with Mk7 Mod.2 GFCS 19.4 254

By simple proportion one would expect dispersion at 19.4 km. to be 236 x 19.4 / 17.6 = 260.1m  - so therefore a little better than expected.with Mod.2 which leads one to expect better dispersions at lesser ranges with Mod.2 (eg. 254 x 17.6 / 19.4 = 230.4m at 17.6 km).

Maybe I'm splitting hairs, but does fitting the Mk 7 Mod 2 GFCS actuall improve dispersion at lesser ranges?

Purely by observation over many games, I would say not and that if one is interested in accuracy rather than range, I would stick with the Mk 7 Mod 1 GFCS.

This does not only apply to Colorado!...

not sure about the Colorado but I know on the German boats you can be 5km from a target full broadside and still watch most of the shots hit around the target. :)

Seems to me that every time I add this upgrade, my hit rate goes down - never measured it though!....
