  • You need to play a total of 10 battles to post in this section.

Hello everyone!

In this guide, we will give you examples of how you can modify the sounds of the game client without using special software.

However, we would like to notice that currently this guide applies to modification of the sounds of main battery, AA guns, torpedo tubes and anti-torpedo armament only.

As more options of modifying sounds are added (for example voice, sounds or music in the port), the guide will be expanded.

Important! The given process of modification, will allow you not to convert sounds into WEM format but to use more popular MP3 format.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The directory structure and location of the path:

Sound modifications work from a designated place in the game client, and are located in the following path:

for example: С:\Games\World_of_Warships\res\banks\OfficialMods

Or they can work from the directory for mods, where banks folder and its contents should be copied beforehand.

for example: С:\Games\World_of_Warships\res_mods\banks\OfficialMods

In this directory, you should create a folder with the mod and give it a unique name, for example "CrazyBear"

In the folder you've created, you should create SFX folder.

Voice Folder is reserved for voice-over of voice commands and commander of the ship.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In SFX folder create the desired folder:

e691a8597e907fc3cf9cf92c14edbecb.png

AAC0 - the sound of long range anti-aircraft aura

AAC1 - the sound of middle range anti-aircraft aura

AAC2 - the sound of close range anti-aircraft aura

MainGun - the sounds of main battery

SecondaryGun - the sounds of anti-torpedo armorment

TA – Sounds of torpedo tubes

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In the folder you've created, create folders with indices of the ships, the sounds of which you are going to modify.

They look as follows:

Use double underscore!!!

In the folder with the index of the ship, create two more folders:

isPlayer__False

isPlayer__True

Use double underscore!!!

08c989d84302dc9d4c0291c7be5d0a91.png

isPlayer__True — the sounds used for your ship in particular are added here.

aefdcf12a1f1c2dcb0448744e1c20219.png

isPlayer__False - the sounds for your or enemy’s team are added here.

In fact, on this step the whole process of creating armament sound modifications in the game is completed.

Now you can run the game and enjoy the results of your work

For your convenience, here is an example of the finished modification: download the example

The images dont work! I want to make ships shoot lasers! Fix em, Nao!

Both WG games are releasing updates to support audio modifications. And i am bring this to both. Its an old mod that doesn't work anymore, so dont ask for it...yet. :honoring:

Hmm. wait, this is actually really simple. All I really need is the appropriate ship ID for each ship. Damn, this is a lot more straight forward then Tanks.

I'm almost finished with the star war lasers, just working on the main guns folder(last folder). but if you want to make it, i can stand down and let you make it. Mine not gonna to sound as good in the video, but i'm just going to be a simple copy and paste from star wars soundboard website. http://www.starwars.com/games-apps/star-wars-soundboard

For tanks or ships? Cause im doing both, but Tanks will take my greater effort. That old mod i made was a damn good mod, and i still have its resources.

For ships i think i dont really care because of how easy it is; anyone can do it. If you are nearly done with it already, then go ahead.

Those 18 inchers have better sound like the Death Star!

I think Star Trek sounds would fit better than Star Wars, though there isn't much variety. Phaser sounds for AA and torpedoes/disruptors for main and secondary armaments?

Does anyone know where I might be able to find the list of ship indicies in the root game folder? I managed to make modded sounds for the warspite and they work fine but I only was able to do that by looking through the example SFX folder and copying the names of the files since the table posted here doesn't appear. I was wandering what the name of ships like the grosse kurfurst and the lo yang would be? (EDIT: my bad someone already fixed it, sorry for not reading properly)

Not sure what I'm doing wrong here. Maybe someone could shed some light?

I have a .wav that I converted into an .mp3 via Audacity.

I then navigated to: "C:\Games\World_of_Warships\res\banks\OfficialMods\MyTestSoundMod\SFX\MainGun\ShipName__PASC006\isPlayer__True\"

In here, I pasted my sound file 3 times naming each file as such: "Main_Gun_ASC006_Atlanta_1942_01.mp3", "Main_Gun_ASC006_Atlanta_1942_02.mp3", "Main_Gun_ASC006_Atlanta_1942_03.mp3"

I then load up the game, go into a co-op match aaaand sound does not play. Just get the default Atlanta sounds.

What could I be doing wrong here?

Edit: Got it figured out. Didn't go to my audio settings in game.

I don't think it's working; i tried mine and nothing happened so i tried Major_Renegade's Star Wars one, but neither worked.  They show up in the game under Voiceover Modification, but don't seem to work :/

Has anyone had any successes with this yet? xoxo

I've had sucess with all of mine. I copied the exact way that the example SFX zip above is and they all work fine. @ MilonRouge when I made mine I just had the name and the number on the end. For example my Grober Kurfurst one looks like this: Main_gun_PGSB110_Grober Kurfurst_01 On the ID table it has the _1945 on the end but it's unecessary for getting it to work. I bet if you just changed it to Main_Gun_ASC006_Atlanta_01 and left out the _1942.mp3 part it would work perfectly. Here's an example of what I did with my Kutuzov:

from what I have done, you really don't need to rename the mp3 files for it to work

just drop in and move on to the next folder.

Ah right so the name doesn't matter then. Could it be you simply forgot to enable it in the audio options? I changed the voiceover modification setting to what I named my folder. Also I did all my stuff from res_mods that might also make a difference. Edited by supersteaders

I like that someone is giving instructions to do this stuff but I don't know how to do them.I think its to bad the developers could simply restore them but expect all of the players to do it and its very complicating so much that i am looking at $179.99 for a computer technician to do the walk through for me. :(

I can confirm that in order for your sound mod to work, you must switch the "Modification" of "Voiceovers" to whatever your mod is named. Otherwise you will not get your gun sounds.

I'm going to try changing the torpedo-launch sound for my Gremy this evening (Chekov saying "I am firing torpedo!").

Once I do, will everything other than that be silent or will the game fall back on the standard sounds for its guns and for other ships?

The other sounds will remain the same, only your Gremy's torpedo sounds will change. You don't  have to copy all the stock sounds over unless you are using res_mods

I would like to try this out. My idea is to try using the 128mm main battery sound from the Hermalin as the 128mm secondary battery sound for the Gneisenau, or using the Gearing main battery sounds for those American ships which boast them as their secondary armament. My only issue is finding the actual in-game sounds(either in the game files, or up-to-date mp3 versions on the web) in order to shuffle them into the appropriate folders. If anyone has any suggestions on how to attain these files I would much appreciate it. Thanks!
