The stock hull for Amagi that WG removed recently. I think it's in the game files or something. It's like how Mutsu is just basically the stock hull for Nagato that WG removed recently.

 

Edit: Also, I believe Ashitaka was one of the names for the proposed Amagi-class battlecruisers.

My conspiracy theory is that they didn't remove the Nagato and Amagi stock hulls for "player comfort", but so they could make these easy premiums instead.

The proposed Amagi class consisted of Amagi, Akagi, Takao, and Atago. Only Akagi made it to completion in its converted aircraft carrier form and no others were ever planned.

 

EDIT: Ah, Takao was originally named Ashitaka.

What gets me is that by removing the stock hull, the Amagi in-game is now basically a fake ship.  And the actual Amagi is going to be a premium called the Ashitaka, a less-known name for one of the planned Amagi-class ships.

 

It's a bit of a mess.

It's a bad idea, just like Stock Nagato in T6 Mutsu is a bad idea, and WG will still do it.

 

And when it doesn't sell well, they'll use it to justify not making any more IJN premiums. Mutsu and Ashitaka are WG's way of screwing IJN fans by only giving us trashy gimmicky boats above tier 5 rather than anything decent or competitive

 

Only decent high tier Japanese premium is Atago and we've had that boat for nearly 2 years now.

I have no real interest, but I hope it has the right turrets at least. The original Amagi stock hull model didn't, either as a mistake or a deliberate nerf to make the later hulls feel like more of an upgrade.

No but she does have 10 12-inch guns, a very similar hull shape, and is based on a blueprinted "prototype" Kongo.

 

You say I'm overreacting, I say I'm just getting fed up with WG's decisions. I haven't really had much reason to be pleased with them lately.

 

And you know that a WG rep directly said they don't make many IJN premiums because Japanese ships don't sell well, right? So when they release one that is obviously garbage and won't sell well, how am I supposed to take it other than "this is engineered for failure"?
