Lets talk a minute about a Tier 7 ranked season shall we?

Lets begin with this. What were you thinking WarGaming? You do know that with the new skills and things this could make this huge area of T7's ruin a ranked season. prior to 0.6.0 you made it so everyone could obtain a Myoko class cruiser with 10 point captain. said 10 point captain remains 10 points in 0.6.0. free concealment expert cruiser. for new comers who just started and were lucky enough to reach T5 in for all we know, a battleship, decides hey ranked!! these prizes are cool. and over and over is the downfall of a game. which bring me to this. you sell Saipan which in good hands is OMG. and in not so good hands a Hiryu could probably spin circles around... ah yes.... BELFAST. as an owner of said ship this one crosses the border of OP. I have over a 10 point captain. 8.9km detection 8.5km radar range BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE!!! I've got smoke and hydro as well!? I think it should be thought about the items in the game at tier 7 if you wish to proceed. Lets also not forget about Poi. Shiratsuyu.. 16 torpedo's... you've given free things away in missions that could really hurt the good players in their ranked season. sure if you grind long and hard enough you could probably make rank 1... but... I understand its still PTS... but I hope for the sanity of those in the community we stay with the T6 and T8. it worked well last season from my thoughts. what are everyone else's thoughts?

I am ambivalent about the matter.

Tier 6, 7, 8...  Competitive play makes my blood boil and I'd rather stay clear of it.

However, I am thankful for Ranked Battles since it removes much of the salt from Random and it becomes a more pleasant experience.

I don't mind Tier 7 ranked.  And I love my Belfast.  But if WG said, "Yeah, we like Belfast in game but we're thinking she might need to sit out of ranked" I wouldn't have a problem with that, either.

I feel quite opposite I get saltier sadly with ranked because people who shouldnt be in ranked are. sure im not the best but you have people who play ranked that arent good and most of them know that and just troll their teams. and at T7 its going to show a true Wallet warrior vs. free to play meta.. the side spending the most will probably win 8/10 times.

Its more than just Belfast.. look at Scharnhorst... Ive got a 19 point captain on my Bismarck i swap in and out and have a recorded game doing 201k damage and 320 secondary hits... there are too many ships in a competative scene that shouldnt be... maybe if WG blocked premiums all together sure but then its not as fun and theres no variety.

Yeah Belfast is op. It will be interesting to see how it shakes out. There are plenty of tech tree ships that are decent. Yes you will have ARP and dragon ships driven by bad players, but they will be on both sides.

I think t7 is great for ranked because of the variety. Also all the myoko clones give most of the player base at least 1 t7. The premium variety is also great imo, Belfast, Scharnhorst, Sims, Blys, Atlanta, Flint, Saipan, and Leningrad all the way lol. This season will rake in money for WG which will benefit all who play.

If I couldn't use the Belfast in ranked I wouldn't like that a t7 ship I paid for was sidelined but after some choice words I could get over it.

Yeah Belfast is op. It will be interesting to see how it shakes out. There are plenty of tech tree ships that are decent. Yes you will have ARP and dragon ships driven by bad players, but they will be on both sides.

 

for tier 7 the ships I could see of the techtree working are Mahan, Shiratsuyu(not so much for killing but blocking pathways), Hiryu, Gneisenau, Nagato and thats honestly the only true raw potential I see.. :/

I intend to use Fiji quite a bit alongside the Belfast. For me Fiji is king and a little monster. I shall dub it Fearless.

look at my signiture. for each and every one of those T7's with th exception of my Sims. I can put a 15+ point captain in. and I will be first to say... Belfast just doesnt belong in competative. sure if its caught out of smoke RIP. tin can. but that concealment. and the potential. and with supercontainers aswell.. people pulling T7 premiums that theyve never understood, atlanta's... sure I want WG to thrive aswell I spend loads to see it grow and become more successful etc. But this... I want to try to finally go for flint and this is how it starts :/

Honestly, I don't mind.  I'd even enjoy a brief T1 ranked area as well.  Its nice to mix things up and get people out of their comfort zone.  Personally I'd like to see all 10 tiers used (even though I don't have a T9 or 10).

It seems like the last time T7 was in ranked, it was paired with T8, which is why it was a disaster for anyone using a T7 ship, almost everyone else was using T8.

I think that Tier 7 will make this season more interesting than the Benson/Bismarck/why did you bring a cruiser anyway? meta of the last Ranked season. You play Sims and Mahan about the same, but Blyskawica, Kiev and Leningrad each are very different ships. Belfast is powerful, especially after the introduction of IFHE. However, I actually do better in damage and win rate in Fiji. Shchors rating down fire from outside the Epicenter may turn out to be very helpful. And don't forget Nagato. She is a fine BB. Just stay 7 km or more away from Scharnhorst/Gneisenau and I think Nagato can be a contender. 

 

Yes there will be potatoes in ARP Myokos. How is that different from potatoes in Paytago or Kutuzov?  I was almost convinced that Kutuzov was a crappy ship by the time I burned out on the last season of Ranked. At least they have to put in some play time to earn an ARP ship or the Dragon. 

 

I do worry a bit about Scharnhorst. The 18-point "berserker build" captain from my Friedrich der Grosse plus a few flags makes Scharnhorst a beast. 

 

In the end though, the skilled players who are good at tactics and encouraging teamwork will excel regardless of which ship they bring.

I enjoy playing ranked but only to a point, when you start to get caught up into getting to the next rank and play 50 or so games to do it..

tier 7 should be Interesting, lots of ARP ships I bet

Ohh it can't match it's detection with a 15 pt+ CO it has around 10k. The AP however vs the Belfast's AP and HE is just night and day. I find I tend to win out against Belfasts quite often. The Fiji is also more agile and has torpedoes to boot. It lacks radar, and detection range. It's a fun fight between the two. Belfast is a DDs nightmare but for me it doesn't last as long in a drawn out fight as the Fiji.

 

Edit: mind you I haven't tried the Belfast with APHE, that could be a game changer.
