Is tier 4 one of the strongest tiers in the game?

With the most recent changes to matchmaking, tier 7 has been an absolute powerhouse, with tier 5 being left largely forlorn.  But that begs the question, did it effect tier 4?  I believe it did.

 

According to Warships.today, Tier 4 seems to be showing a startling climb in win rate across the board.

I decided to take the win rates of the lowest performing eight ships at tier 4 and compare their 2 week rates with their stats overall.

 

The following ships were added to the average (mean): Myogi, Langley, Phoenix, Karlsruhe, Wyoming, Izylaslav, Clemson, Kuma,

(I did not include Danae because she is relatively new.)

 

                                      Average (mean) in win rate overall: 48.885%

Average (mean) win rate for the past 2 weeks (1/27/2017) : 51.793%    (Remember, these numbers come from the 8 lowest performing ships)

 

That is a 2.908% increase in win rate overall. 

 

It's safe to assume that tier 4 is very strong in the current meta game.

Considering the current meta and Tier 5's abuse, it's probably simply a sign that less and less players are playing tier 5, to stay out of the terrible MM.

Well Clemson is borderline OP in her tier, and considering most of the time T4 is top tier or only one tier lower does help the stats significantly. That's mostly why T5 is doing so poorly, as it stands it lost 1 lower tier it could see, as did T6, whereas T4 lost an upper tier it could see.

Well Clemson is borderline OP in her tier, and considering most of the time T4 is top tier or only one tier lower does help the stats significantly. That's mostly why T5 is doing so poorly, as it stands it lost 2 lower tiers it could see, and T6 lost one, whereas T4 lost an upper tier it could see.

 

The Clemson did show the largest increase with it's win rate overall.  Her overall average is 49.82%  her win rate for the last 2 weeks, however, is 54.41%

As it stands, Clemson seems to be doing very well with the new changes indeed.

Well, technically T10 is strongest Tier and that's just it. If you want always be up tier - play it. Of course there's a lot of complains about bad meta in T10, personally I think it's absolutely the same as any other tier - amount of potatoes actually lower since it does take some skills and dedication to reach it.

Lots of people clubbing on T4. Not only with Clemson, but also the German DD. Not surprisung that borderline OP ships there have jumped in win rate. Many seal clubbers are divved too

All tier 4s have +1/-1 mm now, so obviously they'd perform better.

I play Clemson quite a bit and I'm not too shabby in it. I typically play T4 when the morons are out and need to basically carry every game in order to succeed. So far I've had the most success at T4 in my ability to win despite whatever it is my team is or isn't doing

I may follow up this post with a analysis of every tier in much more detail.  I'm curious to see if tier 8 is struggling as badly as tier 5, or if it's still going strong.

I think tier 4 has the most advantages.  Tier 7 comes in 2nd.  Tier 10 is a different animal, altogether.
