In USN BBs I feel like I can't hit the broadside of a barn. In German BBs I feel like I can take on the world, and if I so much as look at a cruiser it's a citadel hit.

German BBs I aim right at the water line usually get good damage even if I miss the citadel. My accuracy could be a better.

USN BBs I have tried everything I rarely if ever get a citadel hit. Water line, mid ship, and even with the deck. I often get just plain laughable damage.

I've tried working on my aim with USN BBs in CooP, but that's proving just a waste of time. More times than not the match is over far to quick to actually get decent practice out of it. I tried training rooms, but ended up just going in circles trying not to be rammed by the disarmed bots.

Any pointers out there in what I could do different?

are you talking about usn bb VS km bbs? or just in general.?

in general, with a american bb, close the distance to 12-14km that is the american bb optimal range, from there aim at the water line on any enemy ship (except km bb, more about them in a sec) and volley fire, when facing a km aim above their armor belt/armor bulge, and again volley fire (this will give you the best damage as you will not be ricocheted by the armor belt, but their deck will usually catch all your ap rounds and you have the best chance of getting plunging fire into their citadel past their turtleback)

don't get within knife fighting (ie secondary) range with usn bb, their secondaries generally suck and at close range their heavily armored citadel can be penned by anything above 150mm dead on.

also, german Bb can show their broadsides because their turtleback will generally protect their citadel, with USN bb you NEED to practice angling your armor,

I was talking about my performance in USN BBs vs my performance in German BBs. Heck I even do in IJN BBs than I do in USN BBs, but it's the German BBs where I shine. I would have too have an absolute crapmatch to not at least break 60k in damage, and often get between 80k and 100k. My performance in USN BBs is inconsistent at best, and downright embarrassing at worst.

Well generally, OP, the German BBs are considered the most noob-friendly line as their additional armour, powerful AA and powerful secondaries means they are a lot more forgiving when mistakes are made: Where a broadside USN or IJN BB can result in a citadel or 2, German BBs can come off a lot easier as their Turtleback armour provides extra protection from citadels, while still maintain guns with good damage and penetration. Think of them as the noob-friendly Soviet tanks in WoT.

The USN BBs, and the cruisers for that matter, are suffering from early stage Power Creep as their intended role has been taken over by the Germans and instead has been given the WG designation of "Jack of all Trades" meaning you'll need to more skill on your part to achieve the same outcome in a USN BB as you would a German BB. At this point in the game, the German BBs will be the easiest line to do well in if you prefer Battleships simply by design and implementation.

A broadside German BB will still get ripped to shreads if they go broadside. Four or five penetrations are pretty much eqaul to a citadel or two depending on tier.
