The nerf to the Texas AA defense was to much

I bought the Texas for it's different stats. I wanted it for the advanced AA defense base stat that it had. The stat was (69) prier to the nerf giving me the freedom to try a different captain spec then all the other american captains in the early american BB ship line. Now I have to spec in AA defense making it a cookie cutter battleship spec. So all I did was pay an overly price battleship skin that was not worth it. Anyone else feel that way?

What nerf?

 

Thought Texas' AA had only been buffed since her release (in the form of some extra 20mm's on top of the turrets).

Say what? Texas has he best BB AA in the tier, now and before. T4-T6 CVs can't touch it.

if anything, the builds were cookie-cutter "one build fits all" before the patch. not after.

 

the ship itself hasn't changed. the only useless thing after the patch are people like you who prefer whining instead of learning and adapting.

Texas, nor AA in general has received a nerf. Beyond that all there is is the commander reset and that BFT is now a 3 point skill with an added 10% for a total of 20% AA efficiency aka AA DPS. To which those two skills double with secondaries to work for a more JoaT build. The only other thing would maybe be that your shredding less planes on their way out because of the new CV skill that adds 75% HP to retreating bombers which even the might Texas may do slightly worse at downing planes as they retreat because of the total RNG voodoo math that is plane shootdown chance. Because I guarantee you high tiers are still screwed by AA and if they have that skill are getting bombers shredded especially to enhanced strafing via all the ammo buffs and the fact fighters can easily run down the bombers.... kinda like exactly what I said would happen without even having tested the skill...imagine that :sceptic:.

Texas is sadly a really slow ship at getting anything done... when she gets up-tiered... it can get ugly really fast. Do any of the premiums here have "preferential matchmaking"? Texas could use it that's for sure :-)

Texas is sadly a really slow ship at getting anything done... when she gets up-tiered... it can get ugly really fast. Do any of the premiums here have "preferential matchmaking"? Texas could use it that's for sure :-) 

 

As far as I know the only one that had it was Yubari. She could only see T5 opponents. However with the MM changes awhile back, this is now irrelevant for her.

WG doesnt nerf premiums.. at least not directly. Texas is a virtual no-fly zone.. but you have to spec her (and captain skills right). She is slow, but for a 100 year old dreadnought, she does pretty good, and is a looker IMHO.

BB's don't get nerfed.

Texas is alright. Even uptiered she can hold her own if played right. Put premium AA on her if you fear the bombers. The trick is to start turning into the torpedo bombers when they get to within 4km before they drop. You are screwed anyway if there are two squadrons doing an anvil attack from both bows unless your AA can wipe one out. Good CV drivers who split their torpedo bombers properly and drop from inside 1 km will hit you with at least one torpedo. Avoiding dive bombers is pure wiggle, and Texas is a slow, fat wiggler. You can handle a couple of bomb hits and fires with premium damage control/repair and flags.

 

Too slow? Been in a couple of matches where folks running Scharnhorst who thought she was an easy torp got taken out by old-fashioned ramming, something I do not hesitate to do with any slow standard BB against faster BB opponents who get too close. Done it to some cruisers as well. With the flag up and enough remaining health you may even survive the collision! DDs? Time the turns and snipe one turret at a time when the DD gets inside 7 km or so, using HE if you have time to make the switch while dodging. Hard to do? Go practice in the training room or in Co-op

Now I agree with Most of these people here, Texas wasn't changed. I run my Tex with my Montana captain who is all specced out for AA. Tex if played and specced right is and has been a fearsome adversary. Most CVs usually attempt one or two strikes against me and then move on when they lose their planes.
