From the patch notes:

AGM2 is the only thing viable on 2/2 Saipan (maybe 3/1 as well, but I never play AS Saipan, so I don't know). The turnaround time for fighters and bombers is small, there is no sense in taking FCM1.

So now the Saipan fighters will be able to do 4.5 strafes instead of 3 current ones, and will stay in air fights for 50% more time. This is a very, very big buff to the ship.

Oh, and USN strike carriers got nerfed with the FCM1 nerf (refer to the screenshot). As if they had it easy to begin with. nope

90% of the time I take the Saipan out there is a Saipan on the enemy team so I think it's a wash anyhow.

Wait, to me it seems FCM1 was buffed, not nerfed.

Arrrgh, you're right! I misread

It's a buff, but I'm not too worried since AS stompers are a thing of the past. Now everyone at T6/T7 will have 5/7 man fighter groups on IJN and USN respectively. They can strafe more, but they're still less survivable than us. All we need is one good strafe.

"AS Stompers" were never that much a problem anyways. 3/1 is  a worse loadout than 2/2 (for randoms, ranked is a whole other thing).

Take me, I run 2/2 exclusively, and I averaged 30 airplane show down per battle in 200+ games. Now I can wreck the enemy air just that much more effectively. Fighters are a huge part of the Saipan 2/2 kit, and AGM2 is the only thing Saipans with that loadout run (or should run, at least). So, thanks WG, I guess?

Still, its fun to run the 9 plane 'Super Diver Bomber Squad' and watch it shave 20k off a fresh BB.

Makes me wish regular USN DB's could manage that. :sceptic:

I didn't mean 3/0/1 AS builds. I meant people with 15 point captains who had Air Superiority and had 4 man fighter squads instead of 3. It was pretty hard to get a 15 point captain by T6 or T7, but 10 points is reasonable.

10 point by t6 easy. I'm just sad I never took my Saipan out after getting 15th skill. But something I don't have to worry about in my sexy Lexington, untill I have to retrain for t9
