Skills on your DD's

With today's 0.6.0 update how would you setup your DD's. I have T3-T7. Some in USN,IJN,RUS,Germans.

 

Do you keep all skills the same in countries or not?

It depends on the individual DD. My USN skills are consistent from Farragut up, but I run my Clemson with the same skills my VMFs run. My VMF skills are consistent across the board. IJN skills are inconsistent because Akizuki, Shiratsuyu and Kamikaze are very different beasts. Same with German because my Z-23 runs the 150mm guns which don't benefit from BFT/AFT. 

 

VMF build: 

PM, LS, DE, AFT, IFHE, CE (I may swap out CE for other skills but I've never bothered with CE and figure I'll try it now since 4 pts instead of five)

 

USN build: 

PM, LS, DE, SE, IFHE, CE

 

IJN: Still figuring this out

 

German build: 

PM, LS, DE, CE, IFHE, SE once I have 17 pt capt

Fwiw, that's the same build I used for my 19 point Akizuki Capt.

 

For Shiratsuyu, I ran PM, LS, DE, and CE and will add IF/HE with 14th point shortly (Shiratsuyu still has a 1.5km invisifire window without aft so I don't really need aft)

In Yugumo I went with PM, LS, BFT, CE, EM, TAE, SE then PT  we will see how it works 

 

Update - I love this build for my Yugumo and even tried it in the Kamikaze R and it worked well for me.

 

You know one thing I would like to point out - is that everyone's play is different so think about your play style and the ship when selecting skills. An example is in my IJN's I like to lead the charge, I'm out front spotting and/or capping so I buff the already good concealment and the poor HP pool. I don't mind gun fights so I buff the slower reloads and turrets but I usually am brawling so I don't bother with range. Torpedo's on IJN are pretty good and I don't need long range team killers so I use the F3's and buff the reload as they really are a offensive weapon versus VMC where they are more defensive (mostly).

 

I'm only tossing that out there because, and I would hope you wouldn't, think "so and so says this is the Cats A@# build" but what works for me might not work for you.

Its counter-intuitive, but RPF is required for DDs now. It lets stealth DDs avoid gunboat DDs. It lets gunboat DDs hunt down and kill stealth DDs. If you don't have it, you are gimped against DDs that have it. My problem now is that I have too many skills I like at that level and cant get all that I want.

if you don't have RPF, you have to play as support DD only.  that is what I am doing with 14 point akizuki captain.      it really cannot solo well anyway.  aft/ifhe  is a must for aki.

 

RU(high tier)      PT,  LS, DE, AFT,  RPF,  BFT  for 17 point.   with RPF, you can reduce need for vigilence.    you could trade bft for vig if you prefer.

USDD:   PT, LS, SE, RPF, BFT, DE, vig or si      for 19 point.      Makes it uber scout  and cap master. alternate is   pt, ls, se, ce, rpf, bft,  for 17 point

 

IJN is tough except for akizuki

What's "VMF"? Russian/Polish/Chinese? Like Blyskawica and Anshan? Which are the only DDs that I have.

   VMF was the Soviet Navy.  Although based on a Russian design, I'm not Anshan really counts..  I don't own it so I couldn't say for sure.

I rebuilt my Leningrad/Izyaslav commander this morning with PT, LS, EM (a necessity here), BFT, and CE, with AFT and then (probably) DE to follow when I get more points.  I'm thinking similarly, with or without EM, for my other "hybrid" DDs - Blys and Anshan.

Okay, Here is what I usually play in DD's

 

USN: Wickes, Mahan.

 

RUS:Gnevy

 

IJN: Minekaze, Mutsuki, Fubuki.

 

German: V-170

 

OH! forgot the points I have on the ship, I'll add these later,,

A suggestion for all you Capt with ARP ships. I found a good use for them and the 10 pt Capts. You can try out different Capt perks on the same ships using all those 10 pt Capt that came with the free ARP ships. I have 13 different arp capt that are 10 pts or more, that's a lot of different capt perks combination to try out on the same ships.

That's not a bad idea and because you can swap them around you can do multiple builds and swap them all into Takao or between the three different types.

anshan  needs EM .    that means you lose LS.         

 

I've been adding AR  inplace of  BFT  in many ships that I have 2 point left over.

I've got four ARP's and they're Kongo's. 

That is for the people that got all the ARP premium ships on december, and I have at least 17 capt. (Some should have as much as 20). I spec'ed all my captains differently, just having to swap the commanders between them to test those skills.

Obviously some will not be using all the ships, but I used them all to get the first-win extra XP to het the Graf Spee ( I play coop because my low-spec laptop cannot get into random, always kicking me out of the game)
