The Cleveland class is misplaced. They were introduced in 43. Maybe it's been discussed before but where is the Brooklyn class. 15 6" guns, awesome ships, many historic ships, Boise, Helena, Savannah, Philadelphia etc,

I am looking forward to the US CA split and un nerfing the Cleveland and putting it at the right tier.  A Brooklyn class would be nothing short of awesome but I would wager it would take the turrets over 45 seconds to traverse much like the Mogami with the 15 152's.

Clevelands are at tier 6 so the gun calibers don't go up and back down again. It has nothing to do with the age of the ship, though the Cleveland should be at tier 8 based on its armor and technology.

Jeez..sorry for wanting a tiny bit of historical accuracy. But your sig shows you obviously are a great keyboard admiral so I dare not express my lowly opinion.

Is there something unhistorical about the Cleveland? A ship which outnumbered the Brooklyns by a huge margin?

Well...Omaha commissioned in1921, then we go Cleveland in 1942, then back to Pensacola 1929..they just seem out of place.

Again, it's because of the transition from light cruiser to heavy cruiser. Back when the lines were set up, WG said that they didn't want to go up and down in gun sizes, so that's why Cleveland was nerfed to fit into tier 6. Supposedly, when the split occurs, it will be moved to tier 8, but I don't think that Brooklyn would fit well in tier 7 or tier 9. Cleveland would need a lot of help to make tier 9, though it is very similar to Baltimore in a lot of ways.

Thanks for the answer. Your answer is a lot more helpful than sarcastic eye rolling emojis.

The notion of gun calibers progressing and never decreasing with tier has been thrown out the window with the Kirov -> Budy progression.

Or is that another instance where the rules don't apply to RU ships

German cruisers go up to 8.3 inch at tier 7 then down to 8 inch at tier 8...

Soviet cruisers go from 130mm at tier 4 to 180mm at tier 5, then back down to 152mm at tier 6...

Gun calibre is coincidental with tier but does not determine tier...

I would love to see the Cruiser line split and the Brooklyn's added to the line. the lines could be as follows:

CL- Phoenix/Omaha/Brooklyn/St. Louis/Cleveland/Atlanta/Oakland/Fargo/Worcester

CA- Olympia/Pensacola/Northampton/Portland/New Orleans/Wichita/Baltimore/Oregon City/Des Moines

CL- the last 2 Brooklyn's (St. Loius and Helena) were usually separated from the other 7 due to a major modification of their secondary battery which gave them a superior AA and ASUW firepower over the other Brooklyn's. As for the Atlanta and Oakland, the only major difference was that on the Oakland units, the wing 5" twin turrets were removed and replaced with quad 40mm bofors AA guns, giving the ships better stability and AA firepower. these changes could be put into hull changes if required. The Fargos were improvements to the Cleveland class in reducing from 2 funnels to 1 large funnel but giving better firing arcs for their secondary and AA guns. The same goes for the Oregon City and the Baltimore classes. The Worcester class altered from triple turrets to 6 twin 6" turrets and had a unified secondary/AA gun fit of 12 twin 3"50 cal gun mounts instead of the various 40mm and 20mm AA guns on previous ships. This made them more potent with rapid fire and quick rotating guns/turrets and a great AA platform.

The whole Russian ship line is ridiculous given their very minor role in history.

Cleveland, someday, will get out back at tier VIII without all it's nerfs. Brooklyn, I'd imagine, would likely be tier VII, possibly with the RoF set at 8 rather than 10. The tier IX could be Worcester, and then I think it'd blend back with the CA line at tier X with the Des Moines

That's the case now. WG has changed their philosophy a lot since the game was released though.

Along similar lines, they've been putting longer-ranged AA and secondaries at lower tiers now, even though it was thought to be OP when the game was released, and the gun performance should not be that different from the older guns.

I totally agree as great of a game this is, the cruisers need to be split to CA & CL.
