This map is utter trash coupled with the fact that it seems like its only on the rotation of Epicenter. This game mode is awful and especially when you pair it up with the fact that this map seems utterly huge and pointless. I have not met a single person that has enjoyed this map nor is it fun. It always comes down to a ring a round and the center is utterly a no go for anything other than DDs.

There are some pretty trash maps in this game but personally Tears of the Desert is one of the worst. Get rid of it. Very bad map!

I dunno, the Hakuryu/Midway drivers I always seem to run into on this map have a fun time walking over everyone else's faces and pissing on the corpses for good measure.

Exactly. Its a terrible map that has 2 big walls and a big open center that is asking any ship with zero concealment to come get blasted. The fact that this map is huge makes it utterly a chore to play as well.

People complained in WoT to get maps removed and they did but WoWS needs to overhaul their high tier maps because the majority of them are awful!

I tend to agree, this map coupled with this mode generally isn't conducive to fun times.  If they rearranged the islands it could make it a lot more dynamic.

Make it a lot smaller, rearrange the islands and remove epicenter from this map and i would say its almost completely different.

We all have our favorite maps but I genuinely believe nobody would call this their favorite.

Just more maps would be nice.  Hundreds and hundreds of games played in Two Brothers, Mountain Range, Ice Islands, Neighbors (my personal least-favorite)...

In the six months I have been playing, we have seen multiple updates, new premium ships, now new captain skills, but only a single new map (Shards).  Compared to the effort WG must invest in those additions, you would think developing new maps would be a breeze.

I would like to play T7 more but I am sick of seeing Two Brothers four games in a row.

I dislike all the "No Man's Land" maps with the big kill zones in the center. All it does is make people more (self-)justified in camping on the outsides of the barriers.

This map and others like it tend to breed that playstyle because when you are center of the middle you are still in prime target range from both sides. Not to mention easy pickings for CVs

Its utter trash.

So...

You'd like WG to build a map based off their office instead? Wage war in their HQ? Sign me up. I always wanted to see the way Dasha decorated her desk :coin:

All the in-game maps are A+ and well-designed. The problem is players not adapting well to the map. The cover, open area, approx. travel time, range you can move before detected by a DD, and so forth is a complex design when you think about it.

High tier that's the only place I've seen it; but Epicenter also appears on Trident and Big Race.

Horray for all the unicum blankity-blanks who can do so then... I doubt they represent the majority of players.

That being said; the map is a huge PITA, but there are others I dislike more.

(oops... sorry for the DP...)

I'm in inclined to VERY strongly disagree.

I'm unicum most of the time, and I think TotD is a grade A PoS.

Unsure whether sarcasm or not.

Regardless, the problem with "No Man's Land" maps is very simple: when you DO think about it, the adaptive strategy is to never sail a spottable ship into the middle under penalty of being exposed to 180 degrees of incoming fire with no cover.

As a consequence, battleships and cruisers that spawn in the middle either have to go the long way around, snipe through cracks between the islands, or yolo. All three choices are bad, which IMO makes the map bad as well.

My appoligies then.

Things I won't disagree with.

In a recent game on TotD I wouldn't do anything more in my Benson then stick my toe in B cap and wait. Some poor cruiser came along and eventually forced me out, since I didn't want to confront him at that time.

All he acomplished was his own deletion for reasons stated above. I tip-toed back into B cap, and eventually capped.

I will admit; most of the fighting I see on the map has been in the north; with whoever wins the battle of what goes south finally crossing the middle killing ground when there's no longer any real risk to doing so. Pretty much anyone crazy enough to go deep into the middle early goes back to port just as early.

I don't know... Maybe I'm just too lacking in map-sense to really understand 'why' when people call a map 'bad?'

I wouldn't say that.  Bastion Hotspot is cancer.

The majority of the maps I have a problem with are the ones that discourage pushing.  Shards was an example of a map that did it right: pushes are discouraged on one part but not the entirety of the map.  TotD is just trench warfare reincarnated.

You cant use the word cancer sir!!!!

In essence TotD is a map that reinforces bad behaviors that transfer over to other maps. people get blown up the second they hit the middle and therefore no longer try to push.

Nothing is more annoying than watching BBs sail in circles around the back edge of the cap while not going into it.

I've often wondered why we have a map named Desert in a game that takes place entirely, except for planes, on water.

Also, it's a PITA PoS, no matter what the game mode is.

I have a long line of Reymu ancestors I represented. We are the Kings of Adapting :)

Way I take any map is that it's chosen me. So I figure out a way to play on it, including how my team goes about it. Sometimes the persistence pays and I get a solid match where I place in top 5. Giving up before even starting the race, to me, is wasting playtime--and that's time you cannot get back.

Or--which is heavenly when it happens--your team groups and pushes as a group and freak the reds out so badly they counterattack badly and fall to your might.

Typically I see a campfest. So I play with it as best as I can in my CA/BB. That's all any lone player amid potatoes can do anyway. As said above, that's basically all the opportunity I have to make the most of a bad match.

if they'd rather give up, their choice. I'm going down fighting.

When going down fighting is getting eviscerated by shell fire before doing much of worth, it's not fun.  I'll still earn more via sporting rewards and maybe some extra damage than if I camped, so I'll do it regardless, but being focused because you're the only target is only fun for the sadists among the red team.
