4 matches so far in Leander and Byuddy, haven't faced one player using RPF. DDs played same as usual.

Saw the thread where another forumite wailed that "RPF come to WOWS, oh noes, it's the end of the DD class."

However, I'm interested in the actual post-patch results. Shelving class when all that's certain is the RPF skill came, not how popular it is, simply looks foolish.

That said, my matches were on medium-size like Two Brothers. Perhaps RPF is meant for the high-tier biggie maps where a DD has easier time hiding--ergo, makes sense to take RPF there on CAs.

I don't think enough people are exploring how it could be used by DDs to avoid unwanted contact with other DDs. Sometimes that IJN torp boat really doesn't want to run up on a gunboat DD all of a sudden, you know? Knowing an undetected ship is over that way is just as useful for heading away from it as heading towards it.

I've been wondering if it might be a sweet skill for the IJN torp boats, especially given how devastating "Surprise Benson!" has been to my otherwise pleasant run through Kagero.

I'll be curious to watch how this skill shakes out amongst the seasoned and savvy players here over the next couple weeks. My gut says it'll be like a cyclone that passes quickly.

So it still comes down to "no one will pick it so it's OK to add it?"

I think it's more "no one will pick it so who cares?"

It is amazing in a DD. No more wondering about positions. You know if they are behind the island, and you know which side they are peaking out. I slaughtered a shimmy in cap, he was behind th island and I tracked him and guns ready, torps ready...dead shimmy.

I trolled three BBs trying to flank. Sunk one, crippled the second and third tried to run. Team got them both.

And end of match, didnt have to waste time, had a beacon pointing right at the cv. Speed boost guns, torps and dead cv.

I am a 49% player and I pulled two back to back 90k plus games in my first two games with RPF.

TL;DR RPF is a DD buff for now. It may change once more players decide to take it.

May be, but 4 matches in the middle of the work/school day in NA, do not a statistic make.

I am still awaiting downloading 0.6.0 tonight, then I can see for myself (other than the few games I did in PT)

that's certainly true that 4 matches isn't significant, but it's also true that the people decrying death to DDs seemed to think they in 4 matches, something like 75 out of 96 shops would be using RPF, and that even though it shows the nearest enemy, it would actually show the GPS coordinates of the nearest butt hurt DD player.

This is a good point that I never considered. So far I was thinking I was unlikely to take RPF on any ship period, but seeing that... I might put it on some IJN DDs to help avoid contact. I've also heard a case for it in British CLs but I'm still thinking about that one. Also on some of the high tier RU DDs it might be useful too, but again I'm still mulling it over.

it will become mandatory on most of the DD.      for RU DD,  if you like to help scout cap, you will want it.    I am taking it over  CE.  Frankly CE is overrated in current meta .  DD will need to act with the fleet more and less solo.

you might be onto something.... time to re-spec my Kiev, and add this to my Kharb for now... maybe the Benson and Fletcher as well...

This makes me want to vomit.....

I am by no means attacking you. I am simply disgusted that the devs would allow this kind of thing.

I'll be taking it on all my DDs (as a second-pass tier 4 skill - CE is still more important). And I'll definitely take it on some cruisers - likely all, but I'm not yet 100% sure.

I won't touch it on BBs. Makes absolutely no sense there.

I kept saying that this will help better player get even more powerful and potatoes will be worse off.       :D        I won't be taking it on BB either

It's going to be fun to troll around with and without RDF.

I'm going to play my low concelment cruisers, Belfast, Zao and Atago a lot over the next few weeks, just follow high tier IJN DDs around at about 3-4km behind.   I suspect there's going to be a lot of people zoning out following RDF around "Hunting Destroyers".  SURPRISE ZAO!

I also will be enjoying my IFHE Akizuki honeypot...come to me my pretties.

I am trying it out on Benson, Fletcher and Gearing. Not avoid contact but to bloodhound the IJN DD that gets our of my visual range as I dodge "stuff." So far I find it useful for that. I have CE on all of them first and foremost and due to my play style longer rainbows were not needed. Shrug, testing continues

Wow...4 matches.  And at T6 no less!  I guess that settles it!

Not only 4 matches at T6, but half of those were in a cruiser that fights at range.

Color me surprised that the Buddy hasn't been the closest ship to a RPF equipped captain at T6.  Lets see...

1.  Barring premiums, there aren't many/any 14+ skill point captains at T6.  So it would have to be someone who took it as their first 4 point skill.  ie. a potato

2.  The only way to tell if anyone on the other team has RPF is to be the closest ship to them.  That's unlikely to be true for the Buddy, ever.  Possible for the Leander.

3.  Most people flopping around in T6 have no idea there was a patch coming, and even if they noticed the captain skills were reset they likely just went with what they had before.

This is already the Khabarovsk tactic.

Sure I can't find a USN DD, but I can be damn sure the one that's hunting the little IJN seal on my team has a brown trouser moment the minute it opens fire.

I am glad they didn't add soviet nuclear warheads to the game, yeah that would have imbalanced the game. Hopefully a citadel aimbot skill next.
