German BBs 0.6 Max Dmg Output? APHE too Good to Pass Apparently.

The new APHE buff to HE shell penetration makes it "too good to pass" - APHE basically will not bounce on bow and angling cruisers.

 

It also works with secondaries and making lower calibur HE shells DD killer and does full penetration damage on cruisers at near perpendicular angles.

 

So does that mean German BBs have to forgo basically all survivability captain skills and settle for a "all of nothing" build to solely focus on damage output?

 

Comparing to USN BBs which can go all survival, greatly increases their tanking potential. Feels like German BBs at high tier needs much higher skill ceiling to play effectively.

I will still completely wreck a USN BB if I can get into secondary range. My secondary output is just too high. Still, I'm not sold on IFHE for German BBs.  It seems too good to be true, and if it is true, will likely be changed in the very next patch as that type of massive advantage is gamebreaking.

IMO, survival skills are better for KM BBs than Inertial Fuse, because the longer you stay in battle the more damage you're capable of doing and if you're relying on secondaries to do most of your damage you're definitely doing it wrong. It's a battleship, it has big guns for a reason.

IMO, survival skills are better for KM BBs than Inertial Fuse, because the longer you stay in battle the more damage you're capable of doing and if you're relying on secondaries to do most of your damage you're definitely doing it wrong. It's a battleship, it has big guns for a reason.

 

German battleships never relied on their big guns, they used their size alone to crush their enemies spirits and force them to bend to their will. Those who obeyed them were rewarded, they got to bask in their glory. Those that refused? Well their not around anymore, some say they were destroyed by the German ships, others say they destroyed themselves.

This is not true. German BBs are unique in that they have no need to rely on either, but both at the same time. This is especially true for players of the Bismarck, FDG and GK. That secondary range means thst theres no need to worry about damage as your main and secondary batteries provide you with quite a few points of damage.

 

German BBs are meant to spec for secondaries. And they never look back.

Indeed. I laugh at all the naive people that say HEAP won't be worth it on cruisers. A 3% debuff to fire chance in exchange for far more reliable DPM via less shatters/ricochets? Hmmm.... This update seems to buff "all" lines, save for CV's, who get shafted again.

That's the problem. If with the skill HEs can lolpen BB's bow and aft, the drastic increase in damage output really makes the survival skills moot.

 

It seems the best outcome would be to maximize damage and just ignore anything survival.
