Ok, guys maybe i'm just retarded.  but ok this new skill everyone is hating or talking about.  I guess i don't really get it.  So, ok i can now see a ship's heading, but i can't see him, so not really sure what good all that does.  I've heard or seen, ok smoke, for a dd, doesn't seem much has changed, so now u can see his heading, but u would still have to blind fire into the smoke to hit him, as we do anyway.  I'm just not seeing how this skill is helpful or dangerous.

It provides bearing, not heading. It's also not precise, nor does it provide distance.

It will be:

1. Situational.

2. More powerful over time in any given match.

It might be:

1. Helpful to newbies, also possibly to terribads.

2. Potentially deadly in the hands of excellent players.

It is:

1. Overblown, over-hated, over-hyped.

  • Cool 5

This pretty much sums it up very well.

I agree with the Overblown part of it.  As this one also,
Priority Target,

To be honest, I don't care how many are targeting me.

Because now that undetected ship has little to no way of making a safe escape without leaving a scent trail for you to follow.

Radio position finding was a real thing used in WWII, but it was countered by radio silence. There is no way of doing that in this game

Why not make it a long consumable with 1-2 realistic uses in battle instead of having it permanently. In the wars, they did not have someone on radio positioning at all times

Yah I could see this happening.  I mean why not.  But I'm strange, I thought for the Halloween event it would have been funny for a cv's planes to be witch's on brooms.  HAHAH, I mean why not.

I think it sucks because I love catching BBs or cruisers coming around corners of mountains and ending them with torps. With this feature there will be no catching people off guard by rocks ect as they come around because they will sense you and know something is around the corner......

Very true.  But if your a main BB player.  I play them mainly as well, You should look and see, red team still has dd's alive, i don't see any on the mini map, hey maybe that little 'person' is hiding around that corner. hahaha.  It does seem thou with you saying that, that it is taking away some of the skills that u learn as you play the game.  I.E  dd's love BB's comin round the bend

This assumes:

1. Large numbers of players take the skill in an environment with an enormous amount of competition for the necessary points.

2. Said players know how to use it.

3. Said players also know how to use the mini-map, how to perform ship counts, constantly maintain situational awareness, and understand when to take preventative action.

That's a rather tall order for anything but the end-game. In summary, it may provide a crutch for those who need one, may provide ambush opportunities for skilled players, and for the rest will provide an IJN DD positioning or anti-Solo Warrior tool.

Again, that assumes large numbers of Texas owners will take AFT. While it does happen to be a skill which retains usefulness as one progresses up the US BB line, there's no guarantee the average player who does not visit these forums, Reddit, or the WoWs main page will consider AFT more important than, say, Fire Prevention or Manual Secondaries, nor that they will take more than one level 4 skill over multiple level 2 and 3 skills.

I get what your saying.  No matter how much we like or dislike any of the new skills, doesn't mean everyone will use them.  I say just rely on your own skills

It is not even that good. You can see is direction in relation to you but not it's heading.

Easy enough to deduce in certain situations.  Certainly enough to target and hit with torpedoes often enough.

Did that on the PTS and had it done to me

If your skippering something that is "soft" knowing when you can safely make an exposing turn without getting multi citadeled does have the potential to be very useful.
